Remaining games of Teams in Playoff Hunt

I have color coded the remaining teams records with red orange green blue

Red being contenders above .500 and orange right around .500 and still competitive, green is below .500 and injured with blue being a sunken ship team.

NFC NORTH

5-3 Green Bay:

CHI 4-3

PHI 3-4

NYG 2-6

MIN 1-6

DET 5-3

ATL 2-5

DAL 3-4

PIT 2-5

CHI 4-3

Thoughts: A lot of green left on their schedule. Very winnable games. Look for them to lock up the NFC North crown in a few weeks.

5-3 Detroit:

CHI 4-3

PIT 2-5

TB 0-7

GB 5-2

PHI 3-4

BAL 3-4

NYG 2-5

MIN 1-6

Thoughts: All that Green and blue doesn't bode well for us. Only 2 games left against winning teams. And one of them is the Bears without Cutler. They almost certainly will grab a WC slot unless a breakdown happens...

4-3 Chicago:

GB 5-2

DET 5-3

BAL 3-4

StL 3-4

MIN 1-6

DAL 3-4

CLE 3-5

PHI 3-4

GB 5-2

Thoughts: A nice dose of red and orange. With Cutler out 3-4 weeks, I can't see them making a legit run. Their record should be 4-6 in three weeks and then they will have to work to get back in the race.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

NFC WEST

6-1 Seattle looks to have the West won aswell:

StL 3-4

TB 0-7

ATL 2-5

MIN 1-6

NO 6-1

SF 6-2

NYG 2-6

ARZ 4-4

StL 3-4

Thoughts: Look at all that blue!! Bottom feeders ready to get eaten alive by Seattle. Hopefully they are at least able to beat New Orleans for us. They should win the West, easily.

6-2 San Fran:

JAC 0-7

CAR 4-3

NO 6-1

WAS 2-5

StL 3-4

SEA 6-1

TB 0-7

ATL 2-5

ARZ 4-4

Thoughts: Tougher schedule that Seattle's, but not enough to drop out of the wild card slot, IMO. The truth will be revealed in the next 3 weeks for them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

NFC SOUTH

6-1 New Orleans:

NYJ 4-4

DAL 3-4

SF 6-2

ATL 2-5

SEA 6-1

CAR 4-3

StL 3-4

CAR 4-3

TB 0-7

Thoughts: The best way for us to make the playoffs is win our division, IMO. New Orleans has a tough remaining schedule, as do we. If we can sweep the Saints, I think we win the South.

4-3 Carolina:

ATL 2-5

SF 6-2

NE 6-2

MIA 3-4

TB 0-7

NO 6-1

NYJ 4-4

NO 6-1

ATL 2-5

Thoughts: Atlanta and Tampa games HAVE to be won, and we can only afford to drop 2 games in our remaining schedule, IMO. Neither of them against the Saints. If we can have a 6-4 record in three weeks- I like our chances!

Not looking past this Sunday, but the 2 following will be very telling. I think it bodes well for us that the meat of our schedule comes at the end, when we have done better with Chico & the Cam....

I thnk we can give SF a run for their money & possibly beat NE straight up...

i think this is pretty spot-on. we can afford two more losses but any more than that and we're in deep poo.

I think we have to beat both SF and NE and I think we can definitely do it. We should be able to sweep the Falcons and the Bucs. I think we can beat the Saints twice but it's an unrealistic expectation since we nearly play them back to back. The refs will probably cheat us out of the game in the Dome.

It all comes down to the conference games (Atl 2x, NO 2x, TB, and SF)  Keep in mind, the tie breaker between us and Detroit, San Fran, and Green Bay will be conference record.  We go 5-1 in those six and we are in (in my opinion).  We go 4-2 in those six and we will need to go 2-1 against the AFC east and also watch the lions and packers as 10-6 may not get in.

That fact makes the New England game, not as important as this upcoming Atlanta game or the 2nd Bucs Game.  Each and every game is absoultely huge, but taking a loss to Atlanta this weekend would be far more detrimental to this teams playoff hopes than losing to New England.  With that said, I hope we crush them both.

With all that said, it is still way too early to be looking at this.  This team needs to just beat Atlanta this Sunday and take it one week at a time.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
