rivera on stewart - "we'll see."

Recommended Posts

the fact that it's been announced for a couple of weeks now that week 9 was the target game for him to come back says the falcons would be pegged full retard if they weren't preparing for him.

That is what would peg them full retard?

I would have thought that peg was pegged a looooong time ago.

But I agree, they should already know to prepare for him.

Just having the possibility that he'll play makes it necessary for them to study him...  no sense in letting them know for sure.

No NFL coach worth a poo will tell things they don't have to.

Actually, most coaches don't rule a player out just for the very reason the other team has to prepare for them.  Even if they know they won't play.  And sure, they don't want the other team to know until game day.

Rivera on status of RB @Jonathanstewar1 "He'll be ready if we need him(winks) Very exciting." He whispers 'read between the lines' #Panthers

Not tipping his hand yet, but you know he will be there.  No doubt that Rivera and the players are excited.  It's a big lift to get a quality RB fully rested in mid-season.

Look at it this way, at least he said something.  Fox would have arrogantly said 'it is what it is ... up to the doctors' and then went on to the next question.

Some may not agree with me, but after winning 4 out of our last 5 games, I think that there is not anything wrong with Deangelo and Tolbert right now.

There is no reason to try to fix something that isnt broke. If Deangelo or Tolberts start to stumble though... then would be a good time to bring in Stewart in relief.

We can climb out of the hole and make the playoffs if we are smart about it. That means not messing with our proven system that will beat ATL. We cant afford to drop a winnable game because we are messing with our offense when we dont need to.

There are also reasons to give Stewart carries as well.  Williams has already carried it 114 times in 7 games.  As he approaches 30 it makes no sense to try and wear him out in our run heavy offense.  Stewart is fresh and needs to get in full playing shape particularly if we make the playoffs. I still remember that a big reason we lost in 2005 was lack of a quality back due to injuries.

I think we need to see what he can do.
