Roddy White could return Sunday

This will give them just enough hope that crushing them will be that much more enjoyable.....

As had been hoped, Roddy White returned to practice Friday and came away happy with the condition of his injured hamstring and ankle. He is listed as questionable for the Atlanta Falcons' matchup with the Carolina Panthers, but he gave hints that he intends to play.

"Roddy said with a smile that he's a game-time decision. Then he said it is going to be important for him to be out there Sunday," tweeted ESPN Falcons reporter Vaughn McClure. "Everything Roddy White said sounded like a guy preparing to play Sunday, although he maintained the 'game-time decision' stance."

What can we expect form White and the rest of the Falcons WR corps if he does return?

Well, the Panthers D has developed into one of the better groups in the NFL. Although they're better at stopping the run, they have been solid against the pass, and only one team has allowed fewer than the six passing touchdowns the Panthers have given up this season. In other words, it will be tough for any of the Falcons wideouts to come up with big numbers in Week 9.

As for White, it's fair to be skeptical, considering his lack of success when he tried to play though his high-ankle sprain previously. Fantasy owners who already found a replacement for White probably will want to stick with that player until White proves that he is fully up to speed.

White's return should help breakout WR Harry Douglas by giving opposing defenses another pass-catcher on which to focus. Douglas has been a monster since Julio Joneswent down, and that should continue, though this week's matchup could cap his upside.

The league is scared of us, every team is trying to rush their star player back against us. On sportscenter yesterday adam schefter said , I dont know maybe 10 times...for three players that they should come back next week against carolina. He was talking about the 49ers with aldon smith and a couple other players. Adam made it seem like such a huge deal.

So players that have been out all season are suddenly ready to play when we get in town. I dont care bring it on, less excuses anyway.

White may get a few catches but the first time he gets that ankle cranked on he will be on the sidelines again.  Practicing on Friday with no contact is far different than playing a game against players who know your ankle is gimpy.  Say what you want but you don't think Panther players will be giving that ankle an extra twist??

    • Yes. Big surprise that the man that couldn't even operate a pizza joint even with his name value in Charlotte can't run an NFL front office. Can't get over his 2023 and 2024 draft classes. Taking XL, Brooks, Wallace takes a special skill of incompetence. Can't get over his plan at MLB. Was apart of the Fitterer team and their comedy of errors. We need fresh ideas in the building next year not only at GM, but in our scouting department.
    • Alabama yes. In general the ‘SEC success guarantees NFL success’ fallacy was really tough to overcome too. You still have to look at the player and extrapolate what their college performance would look like against a team full of NFL vets.    I think 62 SEC players were drafted in 2023. But there were over 1600 players rostered on SEC a teams. You might even  face an SEC defense that had no one drafted. Like Vanderbilt had no one taken in 2025.  So you just can’t blindly hold that hey he was great in the SEC he is a lock. Damn, especially with a weak armed little guy with bad throwing mechanics,
    • The question was regarding Bryce only play well when the game doesn't matter and us out of reach. Bryce did not have a great 4th quarter but he had a great 1st half.  Started the game 4 of 5 for 45 yards and a passing TD. He made a lot of great plays in the drive where we scored our 2nd TD which was a short run by Chuba.  He also had a great run to pick up a first when the pocket collapsed around him.  Great pocket awareness and plenty fast and athletic enough. The point being he played very well at a time where the game was not out of reach or garbage time. That was my point and those games listed are the evidence that prove that point.
