DeAngelo Williams Responds to Fan on Facebook, Shows He's Class Act

My buddy is a huge Dwill fan, we went to the AZ game and sat by the tunnel, and after the game Williams came walking slowly towards our way.

My friend held out his authentic DeAngelo Williams jersey and asked him to please sign it and that he was his favorite player. Williams looked up and then back down and slowly walked passed us.

I was in shock because I know Dwill is a classy guy. Now, we aren't kids or anything but still, after a loss like that, and you see some guy in the stands who spent good money on a ticket and to travel, and he's got your jersey asking for a simple autograph? I couldn't believe he would pull that.

He didn't lose any respect for Williams, and he never has. He's always one of the guys that tries to cheer him up or pump him up whether its Facebook or twitter.

But it definitely surprised us. Especially when we got the likes of Kuechly and Smitty to sign our stuff. Kawaan Short gave me his gloves too which is why he's my avatar.

Just thought I'd share that little tidbit.

Judging from the grammatical errors at times and constant photos of his cute daughter throughout the week. I am 99% positive this account is genuinely controlled by DeAngelo..

If this account wasn't controlled by him, it would be creepy to have someone posting photos of his child and other activities..

your sig,

does double trouble still do that? I feel like I haven't seen it in a while

I have learned since I was a young kid to not take it personally when a player avoids you.. My father was big on trying to get autographs. It was like a mission for him when we would go to games. We would basically stalk players hours after the game and wait by the players parking lot area in SoCal. Even as a kid I felt guilty about this because I had a short stint in show business where I grew to know "Stars" and got to see them for their true selves.. Some were better than they appeared on TV and some were worse..

Since growing up, I am completely over the thrill of trying to get a celebrity to put their chicken scratch on something I own.. I know that other fans have the same thrill as I did as a kid, and I don't knock anyone for that. It is fun and exciting. However, I saw first hand how these celebrities are real people, just like you and I that are paid to work their ass off and perform duties. They are also held to a standard to look like perfect citizens to the public as well.

Some players, I believe are just so drained and want to get back to the locker room or back home after a game. Some players may even find it strange that grown adults appear to possibly worship them. I can only guess this is what happened with DeAngelo on that day. It seems all our players love to interact with this kids.. i.e. Cam Newton always giving away TD balls to young children, whether on the road or at home.. I think adults are overlooked and the children get all the energy for autographs or attention from the players.

They have when they were both healthy.. I am sure that once JStew gets more into the mix and if either of them make it into the Endzone they will either do the "Arab Money" dance as is in my sig from MNF in 2008 or they will do the "Matrix" dance that they have also done more recently..

That was vs. Buccaneers in 2008 on MNF if I remember correctly.

Good call... You are dead on.. I wish I had a recording of that awesome game.. My sig is all I have..

DWill is the man! Love that dude.

I remember going to my first Training Camp back in college and DeAngelo comes cruising by in his little mo-ped thing and goes..."what's up guys!!!" and rides off...

Was a cool moment and from there on he's been one of my favorite all-time Panthers

I was at a Jordan Gross kickball tournament a few years ago. Deangelo signed for all the fans in the cheap seats while Cam was hustled away by his team. He walked up to us and asked us to check out a link for a Veteran charity. I mean he's talking to a group of us, maybe a dozen people. I just thought that was cool because he can go on TV and reach millions but he was spreading the word by mouth.

I mean there are countless examples of him being a good dude. After the 2010 season he didn't want to say QB was our biggest need (even if he privately thought it) because he wanted to respect Jimmy Clausen.

That is def Dlo on Facebook too. You can tell a big difference between his page and Cam's.
