Have the TV on in the background while working.....  they just cant stop talking about the "injustice" done to the Pats.  As if there isn't anything else to talk about regarding our impressive performance.  GET OVER IT FOLKS !!!!  The Panthers beat the Patriots, simple as that !!!

like I just said in another thread.... apparently a Tom Brady under throw is more important than a excellent read by Lester. Lester was hawking before that contact. Nevertheless, I truly believe we would have stopped them had that game came down to a last goal stop. I believe they would have had 5 yards to get, considering the penalty would have been 15 and the ball was near the 20. At the end of the day our CBs are finding a way to wrap up and close the game 3 weeks in a row.

First, you do NOT understand the penalty.....pass interference in the NFL is a SPOT FOUL (not a 15 yard penalty).  You are thinking about the college game.

Regardless of where the line of scrimmage was, a PI (if they had called pass interference) in the endzone gives the team a 1st down on the ONE YARD LINE.  Not on the 5.

If it had been called defensive holding, it would be a 5 yard penalty and they would have a first down on the 13.

and still would be mad in NE this morning because they wouldn't have got that TD to win. That is all.

It is interesting how much pub the call is getting.  I highly doubt it would be such a big story if the teams were reversed.

If the teams were reversed we would be bitching about a loss. I'll take the situation that we have and not worry about a damn thing.

Interestingly enough, Florio speculates the controversy is covering the fact that either Brady or Gronkowski (or both) blew it on that final play.

PFT: Flag controversy gives cover for bad route or bad throw

A few commenters theorize that Brady made the throw in a specific effort to draw a penalty but ultimately failed, a theory I've pondered myself (and one that would make the final outcome even more hilarious than it already is)

    • Them playing behind a couple more seasoned guys until they get familiar with coverage and pace of play is a good thing though. We really can use them to spell the other guys, and in situational ball especially with Ransom on possible run/blitzing downs.
    • They fuged him over so bad to help cover their bad judgement. About time he got a little something to wrk with.
    • I think completion percentage is a bit of a overinflated stat for a qb too. People place to much stock into it. So many factors to consider with it : receivers, how many attempts are made deep, the defense etc all play a roll in it. When it’s considerably low 50% or less the QB accuracy can come into question. But I don’t think it’s necessarily one of the better percentages to put so much importance into for that position. General effectiveness is far more indicative of the QB you have. First downs, 3rd and 4th down conversions, points scored and clutch plays IMO is how you grade a QB. Always bothered the poo out of me how people downed Cam for his completion percentage and that’s what they used to disregard him as an all time great. Dude damn near averaged 3tds to 1 turnover a game and was an obvious difference maker for us.
