RGIII: "Media trying to Character Assassinate Me"

Nice try.

That OP, really thought he wrote/did something, but unfortunately he/she appears slightly uninformed. It appeared to me, as a cut n paste exercise; taking things out of character and reality on say many fronts, just to make a Newton/Griffin 2nd year comparison.

Yes, there are some obvious comparisons that can be made of the two (dual threat; read option, pistol, etc.). But football wise, you can't flippantly compare their first two seasons like that. They succeeded for two different reasons (basically; Cam excelled in conventional offenses, Griffin did not). And at this point their second seasons aren't the same as well (Panther went more read option Newton's second season; so he suffered. Then when the Panthers went more conventional [from the midpoint of the season], Cam had success, turning his season around from a personal standpoint). At this point, Griffin's still terrible. His stats have been bloated, during Ultra Garbage time. The Panthers competed much better game in game out as well. Even the way both teams ran the Read Option was different (and of course, Washington relied much more on the run, fakes, the Pistol, motion, etc., in general than Cam/The Panthers at Carolina).

Lastly; Cam's father has never been a distraction, and/or criticized the Redskins organization as far as we know. So that OP was way off base in so many of his comparisons, especially inserting Cam's father into the article like that.

They're just not the same QB's, and their teams operate two totally different offenses. Cam is a big strong, rugged drop back QB than can run. Griffin is a lithe scrambler, who throws better off of motion and trickery. He doesn't appear to like sitting back in the pocket, shrugging off defenders, and/or take hits well like Newton as well.

And the off the field stuff Cam experienced was negligible, compared to what RG3 has experienced (including the associated Jordan Gross, Steve Smith comments the author cobbled together). Cam was never a problem with the Panthers in the way the author inferred, or Griffin has been since the legend of RG3 was created last year.

That is interesting, but the difference is that Cam didn't flat out suck last year. RG3 outside of garbage time has been really bad.

I do agree with media narratives and RG3 is getting trounced because they are losing

Not only this. But the Panthers actually competed, game in game out.

And of course, we all know what Chud did to the offense and Cam. And once that was corrected, Cam's numbers flourished (under more conventional NFL offense, and less Read Option by the way).

The media is NOT your friend.  Period.  You can be a darling one second, and public enemy number 1 the next.  Ask Tiger (extreme), ask Cam, RG3 should've taken some notes from our very own.

Cam's best quality is his ability to evolve and learn.  He hasn't stopped improving in all facets of the game, let the hate continue I think he feeds off of it.  Cam started from the worst end of the media spectrum, he could do nothing right, as opposed to RG3/Luck who they loved and could do no wrong.

Cam "started from the bottom now he's here" whereas RG3 started from the top, uh oh...

Is RG3&out getting it worse than Cam did at this point in their careers?

i would say about the same.

Cam just dealt with it for much, much longer.

RG3 did some of this himself. And some of it is just ridiculous. But he should have heeded McNabb's words (funny the media at the time blasted him for that).

the media are pieces of poo. no balls or morals.

They built RG3 up for ratings and webpage hits.  Now they're breaking him down for the same reason.

I think the saddest part of all this is that RG3 really believed the media was his friend.

McNabb tried to warn RG3 about the very thing you just mentioned, because he went through the same thing... the media doesnt want to see black qb's do well

white qb's unfornately will always get a pass, Matt Ryan has 1 playoff win and signed the richest contract in nfl history for a qb... WHERE IS THE PRODUCTION... they were preseason superbowl picks and only have 2 wins... up until this point the media has protected him... black qb's dont get that kind or level of protection from the media

look at what they are doing to Jameis Winston.... any dominant or really good black qb will be hated or made to be a villan... thats just how it is

remmeber last year when russell wilson started off slow in his first 6 or 7 games, the media was saying they should go to Matt Flynn... it always seems like black qb's are on a short leash with the media

Cam would get slaughtered for the way RGIII handled the last interview. When he talked about mistakes, he spoke in generalities and the team as a whole. He didn't take responsibility for any of his mistakes which is generally what QBs (especially those wearing the "C") do. It's unbelievable he has't gotten more heat after all the media did with Cam the last two years.
