Official Panthers - Saints Gameday Thread

Fellow Huddlers,

The day has arrived. Tonight the Panthers have the chance to claim the lead in the race for the NFC South Title.

The vibe down here in New Orleans is very energetic. I talked more crap last night with the locals than any time in recent memory. Expect the home crowd to be rowdy and noisy from the first whistle.

When: 8:20pm

Where: Superdome

On TV: NBC

I will be on the field and tweeting from the sidelines. Follow @Carolinahuddle

Keys to a Panthers Victory:

- Score early. While the crowd will be noisy, they are easily deflated with an early lead.

- Hope for a Deangelo repeat performance. Deangelo usually does well in the Superdome.

- Get Physical with Jimmy Graham. His worst performances have been when physically harassed all game long. It is worth a penalty.

It has been a long week waiting for this game. Really, a long two weeks. This is the biggest game we've had in years and with 12.5 hours to go I'm bursting with excitement.

David Carr was the only "expert" to pick the Panthers on Gameday Morning unless you count Sterling Sharpe who picked the Saints as a reverse jinx for the Panthers.

Can't wait for the game cause I think we got this on lockdown.

I've been up since 5:30am and I tossed and turned all night.  Way too pumped up for today.  I've already had an "ice up son" cupcake for breakfast that my Saints fan wife bought yesterday.  Pretty big of her considering I told her I wouldn't share a bed with her this weekend (I'm in the basement).

The Roaring Riot will be 70+ deep at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille tonight if you're looking for some good fans to watch it with.

I'm going to pop four advil, blow the leaves off the yard, and then start drinking.

Go Panthers!

Panthers - 27

Saints - 24

    • Jeff Daniel's is our PP coach. Willy is the Special Advisor to the General Manager. I'd love to see Mr Game 7 teach our boys how to utilize their PPs!
    • Couple of things to consider with the recent love from PFF: Eric Eager, the current Panthers' VP of Football Analytics, is a former writer and data scientist for PFF. The team has had seven consecutive losing seasons, so the fanbase is eager for any uplifting news. It's the offseason, so football writers are going to be diving into the numbers from last season to create speculative pieces to drive engagement during the offseason. Being hesitant to trust stats like BTT% but not TWP% might be less an issue with PFF and more of an issue with something else.
    • Honestly, it would haver been difficult for any WR to look that good with the type of rookie mini camp we held anyways, really it was either look bad or just look normal. At least from what we saw, there weren't any 1 on 1 drills like other teams did where a WR could have made a nice catch or beat a DB, it was just a bunch of running against air on very basic routes. You can certainly look bad if your routes/cuts aren't crisp or you drop some passes, but in a setting like that it's really hard for any player to stand out and look great unless the QB is making some terrible throws and they make some wild catches. With these type of RC MC's, DL can look good if they're firing through the drills and QB's can look good with their passing, most other positions you can really only look bad if anything stands out.  Once they get into OTA's we'll be able to start to see some players standing out more.
