Is Ron Rivera Job 100% Safe?

He is safe for next year....last year on his contract.

To start 1-3 and go 10-6 (if we lose out) is a great job.  Showed sig improvement over past season.

In this case, there is no way that Richardson eats a year on his contract and fires him.

He might not get an extension, but he does not get fired.

Lovie Smith got fired after going 10-6.

That said, Rivera's job is safe until next year.

Different situation entirely with Smith. The Bears only won 3 games after starting 7-1, and had been in the NFC championship game the year before. It was practically crash and burn compared to expectations.

10-6 for the Panthers would be disappointing, but still a significant improvement. This is a team that's getting it together, not falling apart.

Lets see... In 2.8(no offseason year1) seasons Rivera turns one of the worst special teams and defensive squads into one of the top 5 in each (#2 defensively), we win 10 games with 2 to go and have become relevant on one of the tightest teams we ever had. On the way to playoffs and possible division win.

The offense immediately on his arrival went from historicl-terrible to top 5.

Questions to ask: Are we winning? Are we improving? Is the team cohesive and playing hard? Do we have a chance against everyone we play?

If the answers are yes...then you have your coach.

I personally like Ron Rivera and he seems like a nice guy.  I hope the winning continues and he stays the coach for a long time and I do think his job is  safe now.

As a side note I don't see us losing both of the last games either!

Were 10-4, a legit shot at the two seed and a first round bye. Is this really the time for this thread. Geez

My apologies as I didn't mean to offend anyone on the board with this topic as I see many are upset with the question.

I respect a number of people's opinion on this borard and I had a couple of conversations with friends about this a few minutes ago and I wanted to see what the board thought.

I know this is a passionate topic for a lot of us I just wanted to get different people's take on this, that's all...my goodness.

For the first time all season I really didn't expect to see this thread.

At the *worst* we will win 10 games this year. We've had our first winning season since 2008.  We tied our franchise record for a winning streak.  All this while having a secondary with more holes than a strainer, a sub-par receiving corps, and an OL that...well...it's just our OL.

Even if we fug up and go 10-6 Rivera should get a contract extension, and I think he will.

Hopefully we won't see a thread like this for the next ten yrs.

    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
    • I'm not so sure. Something about the whole Frank/Bryce situation seemed off from day 1. Bryce didn't fit Frank's QB mold as well as Stroud, then he basically gives up when Bryce is named starter in preseason but gets virtually no reps in games. Then he looks completely unprepared and Dalton steps in in Seattle, has a decent game under immense pressure, and it's right back to Bryce. All his mechanics are terrible and he's having the worst rookie season ever and Frank doesn't bench him?  You dont have to be a conspiracy theorist to know Bryce wasn't ready to be a day 1 starter. Everything with Bryce, then coaches, and the FO seemed forced.
