What Saints Fans are Saying - Part Deux

IMO: the one factor that is going to matter most Sunday is our pass rush. If we get to Brees getting sacks and causing bad throws (hopefully INTs). we can win. If we sit back and let our secondary try to do the hard work, it won't matter where we are playing.

Definitely. Even against Rams Brees had almost 400 yards and drove to redzone 6 times, but the 3 turnovers and surprise onside kick which is basically like a turnover was the reason for loss. Also the big early hole was huge against Rams and Seahawks since it made them one dimensional on offense.

On the other hand, last game against Panthers, Payton realized that defending the run was what Panthers did best and defending pass is what they did worst so he came in with a plan to pass heavy, like 85% passes and Panthers had no answers. Either way, I wouldn't expect to see Saints trying to run up the middle.

Payton is 6-1 against Panthers in last 7 games with only loss coming from last game of 09 season where we sat most of the starters. Even in last years two games the offense put up 27 and 38, so they have been able to score on offense.

In the past 5 years, even including this years subpar 3-4 road record, Saints have best road win record since 09. Also Payton has never cheated, the punishment was for not doing enough to find put and stop Williams from rewarding players for big plays. GW and defense were a separate entity and had separate meetings rooms. Saints was one of many teams rewarding for big plays, the issue was they were told to stop and didn't while teams like Packers did stop.

Actually the smash for cash programs has been part of NFL for the longest time and was openly deemed ok and within rules by Taligbue, them with no changes to rules, Goodell called the same thing against rules.

Packers defensive end Reggie White acknowledged yesterday that he doled out his entire paycheck to his teammates following last week's playoff victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

``I gave them money for big hits,'' White said.

The smash-for-cash program depleted White's $13,000 game check in $500 increments, according to a report in Friday's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

White, the 34-year-old all-pro and former Eagle, said his incentive program would continue for tomorrow's NFC championship game against the Dallas Cowboys.

More than 10 players received $500, including linebacker Wayne Simmons, who was rewarded for the fumble he forced that was returned for the game's first touchdown by teammate Craig Newsome, White said.

White awarded himself $500 for a hard hit on 49ers quarterback Steve Young.

``I don't know if the money is any more motivation, but I know I paid out a lot,'' White said.

Giving cash bonuses for big plays and hits has been going on in Green Bay since the 1994 season, the Journal Sentinel's story said.

About 75 percent of the players contributed money this year to a fund for that purpose, but the pot had run dry by the final weeks of the regular season. White and defensive end Sean Jones then kicked in money to keep it operating.

Greg Aiello, an NFL spokesman, said there was nothing wrong with what White did, likening it to a quarterback buying gifts for his offensive linemen.

You can cherry pick all kinds of numbers....not sure what Payton vs Fox/Delhomme has to do with anything

For example, Brees vs Ron's Panthers at Carolina is 1-1. The one win was a last second FG.

And again, trying to use Dome stats to defend what your team will do outdoors this year......is a pointless arguement. Saints have proven beyond a questionable doubt they are a drastically different team.

So you're posting with the purpose of attracting the attention of another male? Interesting. I guess that's better than the constant police attention you get you're alway crying about here.

Sunday is a high of 77 degrees, but a 50% chance of rain and winds upto 22 mph. If it's rainy and windy I think that would greatly affect Brees' timing routes with his receivers. Johnson will be much better this game, as well. I predict we will win this time around.

Panthers 24

Saints 21

excuse making...it's what saints fans are best at and will continue to do until the wheels fall off that septic tank vacuum truck they call a bandwagon and they start cheering for the next trendy choice.

Big hits and big plays are a far cry from the pay for knocking players out of the game that the Saints were using.

Just go suck the exaust fumes from your imaginary bentley and die, you worthless douchenozzle.

Well, I wish I could be a homer and say the saints definitely win Sunday - but, I can't - I do believe the Saints have the talent to win, it just does not appear likely that the they win sunday - Carolina is playing great and they are at home (outside) - and we have stunk on the road this year, I think Panthers win this one.  However, those predicting a Panthers win by 20+ points, I think are being homers as well....

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
