McNutt to get a jersey...Lafell,Ginn,Hixon and McNutt to carry the load

Via Joe Person on twitter according to Mike Shula. I know many hoping for King, but looks like this kid will be the fourth man up.Don't know anything about him and it is unlikely he will see playing time anyways.Football gods deemed that Smitty would not have a serious injury and possibly be avaiable for the playoffs with a first round bye. This actually give us a chance to see what these dudes can do with playing time....maybe Hixon is a playmaker and hasn't had the chance to get on the field. Best case scenario , the three carry the load and produce next week and Smitty heals up to play in three weeks. Wouldnt that be a great Xmas present for the huddle!

McNutt to be side-line filler, much like Hixon was all season. He might get a few snaps if one of the other receivers gets banged up or needs a breather, but don't expect him to come out and have a big catch like Hixon did.

However, expect Hixon to have a few catches and possibly do some damage.

I'm guessing McNutt knows the playbook better than King at this point, and is why he's starting.

It will be interesting to see what Hixon can do, but god I can't wait to see 89 back on the field.

Shula likely will go even more conservative next week than normal IMO. More BS lamecat plays, etc

I am with you man. I don't get the point of running the wildcat. It makes no sense to me. We don't have a threat of throwing the ball so everyone in the stadium knows it is a running play. Maybe add something to it but probably best just to tear that page out of the playbook.

The Wildcat is terrible. That one wildcat fake was pretty fun to watch, but overall, the wildcat just basically allows the D to sell out on the run. Pure asinine playcalling.

    • Well, Hooker was a guy that was drafted in the 3rd round pick sitting behind a well established starter yet Detroit somehow saw enough to let him go after two offseasons.  Where does that fit into your ideal situation?
    • Like that matters. That's the first thing. I suggested that it's probably better to let a QB sit and learn, and that's what I meant. Secondly, in what planet am I making excuses, my friend, or engaging in any mental gymnastics in Bryce Young's defense? As I have said, I don't care if he turns into Mighty Mouse, it's time for him to go. In my opinion, he's too short to be a successful QB in the NFL. I have seen enough. I'd rather trade him and take my chances with Hooker, at least he's more of a prototypical size and can actually see where and why he's throwing the ball.
    • There is a scenario where our team comes out prepared to play football instead of shitting the bed for the first quarter. Every bad Bryce game seems to start with him looking incompetent - the OL looking incompetent - and the defense looking incompetent.  Boom, down 14 before we know what hit us. Imagine a world where we come prepared and play with a lead, and Bryce gets to fulfill his ceiling by managing a game instead of playing catch up. He's bad, but upon reflection he is not Clausen bad.  He can move the team down the field when he gets 4 - 5 seconds in a clean pocket against a soft zone.  I don't think Clausen could do that.
