Possibility for Luke to win the DPOY

I think it's a 50/50 shot or greater he gets it. There's no polarization in the media about him either personally or professionally (consensus is that he's a beast on-field and a nice guy off-field), he's on a contender that he is helming the dominant end of, and most of the other contenders are on below-average teams (Quinn) or aren't even the best guy in their unit (Sherman). I'd say Mathis is the one who scares me the most in terms of taking it... he's having an awesome season and is a major difference-maker on a team that isn't known for having an amazing defense.

As a side, I think there's a good chance we'll see Luke, Riverboat Ron, TD all on stage NFL Honors show if we get homefield... Luke gets DPOY, Rivera is COY, and TD gets the Walter Payton Award.

Not one mention of Watt?

Anyway, don't think Luke is the DPOTY.

Quinn had been a monster. Watt has been awesome as well despite his team's record. Sherman had been good but not even Revis level tho.

I'd say

Quinn

Watt

Luke

Kuechly would win over Robert Quinn.

18 sacks is good and all, but he's on a sh¡t team and plus, has 0 FF and 0 INT. #59 just broke the NFL tackles game record and has been vital in key situations and to the success of an 11-4 Panthers team who has the best ranked Defense in the NFL..it's a no-brainer...

Kuechly will put up another 10+ tackle performance Sunday and will win DPOY at years end..

He's a DE, so not sure how no INTs is a knock against him.

Quinn has the most sacks, hits and 2nd most hurries. He's also top 10 run defender.

Ans let us please not overate the tackle stat. If we go by tackles Paul Poslouzney would win it running away.

Its hard to argue that a player on a team with 2 wins should be in a discussion about mvp. What value is there to discuss? Watt hasnt compared in at all to his performance last year even.

Hard to replicate a historic year tho...

Plus it is DPOTY and not MVP or MVDPOTY.

Despite the rest of his team sucking he has been awesome. Just look at what he is doing.

Your performance has to bring something to the success of your team. It is hard to argue the value you bring when your team sucks.no player from the Texans or Jags is going ti be in the discussion for DPOTY...lets just be real.

    • He was so much fun to watch as a player but is a prototypical example of the old "never meet your heroes" adage. Great player, not a great guy.
    • Look.... if us BY "haters" give credit about his GWDs...... Will the BY stans also have honest discussion about the 55minutes before the last 5 in which BY has put up 9/20 for 78 yards 0 TDs???
    • The way they are handling now is how they should have handled it from the start instead of that you get a series, you a get a series. Let Chuba spell until he had some of his step back.  We definitely could have put a better showing against Buffalo and their weak run defense had we employed the same game plan we did against Green Bay. Saints were determined to stop the run and make Bryce beat them, Atlanta had similar plan and the coaches and Bryce were able to respond.  Rico although didnt have the best rushing game was vital in the passing game and his catch and run help get us into the redzone there at the end of regulation probably should have been a touchdown that out of bounds was a judgement call it wasn't conclusive and thus should have went with the original call on the field.  Roco brings that dawg to the offense that it shorely lacked up until Miami game. Interesting it was his call that help seal the win for us, glad the coaches were listening. Hope they can get a deal done and run it back next year.
