Player to watch on defense isn't Kuechly necessarily, but Thomas Davis

When we drafted TD, you got the impression he was brought in to be the "spy" when we played the Vick led Falcons.  TD is a mobile QB specialist.  He will be the difference in this game!

You're right.  I remember he spied Vick the whole time and we beat their sorry asses doing it.  CK is a bit bigger than Vick but I hope TD lights him up like a Christmas tree.

I heartily agree it is TD that can make a difference in this game. However, it is Kuechly that offenses game plan for. He sets it up for TD & Hardy & Johnson & Star & Edwards & Mitchell, etc to be able to make all those plays. It was a total mind game between Brady & Kuechly and Kuechly won. Capernick just isn't that smart and that is what will win the game for us.

Dont get me wrong... I think Kuechly is amazing. Great MLB... very passionate, fearless, and cerebral. But offenses dont gameplan for Kuechly. Last year, Luke led the league in tackling, but our defense still struggled. Offenses gameplan for this front four. What they have been able to do has made our even our secondary look good. In my opinion our front 7 is the best in the LEAGUE, but its the front 4 that make it dangerous. 6 sacks against Drew Brees? 9 sacks on Matt Ryan. Leading the league in sacks with 60? Thats the front 4 all day.

Having said that... TD will definitely be key in this game. I've seen Luke struggle in coverage. Thomas Davis is better in coverage.... especially with the likes of Vernon Davis on the field. But if for some reason, we cant get a pass rush.... Its going to be a long day.

Keep Pounding.

Actually Offense do gameplan around Luke. I forget what game it was but Mcdermott talked about it after the game and basically said thats what they do to the great ones.

How did this guy fly under the radar for so long? His season after his ACL injury was simply amazing.

We're a small market team... if he played for the Cowboys, Pats, Steelers, etc. everyone would know his story.

It's literally amazing what he's been able to do coming off three ACL tears.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
