Interesting article about WR propects

Looks at Watkins, Evans, Benjamin and Lee, highlighting where they caught the ball, what they did with it after catching, their break and their hands:

Makes Evans look like the most attractive prospect to me, and Watkins looks like a one trick pony.  Benjamin would definitely be a steal late 1st or early 2nd, when compared to the others.

Really should have used Lee's 2012 numbers with an actual QB and a healthy Lee. The metrics would look a good bit different if they did. Obviously there's no comparison when you miss as many games as he did, and have Kessler throwing you the ball instead of elite college QBs like Boyd, Manziel and Winston.

Meh whatever...

I really hope Lee drops to us. He has glimpses of Reggie Wayne in him at times. Didn't realize his drop % was that high though

I don't like his injury history but I could see him being someone that gets passed over for that reason and then has a big year.

Very interesting analysis.  I saw one similar earlier this week.

I still feel like Watkins would be the best player for us due to his sheer explosiveness, ability to run the WR screen game (bring'in back the Dan Henning playbook!), and his ability to be a big play receiver.

Evens is a bit of an enigma to me.  Is he a guy like Alson Jeffries who just looked like a big ole' jump baller, or someone who can come in and do everything at his size?  That article mentioned Evans' ability to run sharp square routes, which will get him open a lot.  And it seems like he's a good enough mover and shaker in the field to make something happen after the catch...  Plus it would be super awesome for Cam to be able to heave a ball up, and know that Evans has the ability to make the play, anywhere!

I just like to read the stuff a lot.  Matthews and Moncrief both have interesting profiles.  I'm glad there are pro's who can do this stuff because the Draft is such a crap shoot...

    • I see both sides of the arguments, but compared to last year we're somehow at an upgrade over completely fried Dalton and wasn't even good in college Plummer. At least Pickett and Grier probably have some desire to make more money when Dalton was happy to just go through the motions and I will never understand why they even bothered with Plummer.
    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
