LED and LCD hdtv question

LEDs are LCD tvs that are lit by LED lights instead of a single bulb.

The biggest difference is that LCDs are bright in the middle of the screen. LEDs are either edge lit (darker in the middle) or fully lit (uniformly lit for even bright/dark)

again, LED tvs are LCD tvs lit with a different form of backlight

MrBelding is 100% correct. It is the same technology displaying the image, as opposed to plasma or the recently deceased DLP TVs. The light engine is different, that is all. The LED is more power efficient but usually runs hotter(???)....

You want your HDTV to look better? Spend $20 on this, its almost a calibration. I am ISF certified, this will get you pretty damn close to a true calibration at a fraction of the cost. You image will be better after you run this DVD and make the recommended adjustments....

When I was in the market for led TVs last year the samsungs looked brighter than the LGs. LG is a good brand, but for some reason even their LED TVs look like LCD TVs next to a Samsung. Samsung is just better at making them.

I wouldn't go by how they look in a brightly lit store.

Manufacturers know some models will be on display so all TVs come from factory calibrated to look good on display. Watching at home on those settings makes most people nauseous.

This is true..TVs are sent from the factory with the Contrast jacked all the way up so it will "look good" on a showroom floor with all them big fluorescents above. Buy simply turning it down to about 65% your image will get much better. Contrast is the white level while Brightness is black level in the image. Getting these 2 settings correct help immensely as the greyscale affects all other colors...

I still have my 40" Samsung I bought in 2008....love it.

Explain what you've got going to your tv (receivers, etc)

I have a DirecTV HD DVR, a Samsung BDP and a Toshiba HD DVD player all connected via HDMI to my Samsung 55in plasma....

Heres something about LG, its not 'Life's Good', its 'Lucky Goldstar'. Remember Goldstar TVs? POS TVs, not a fan....

So how does this DVD work?  Will it give me an online version as I have no DVD players anymore now that they are basically obsolete.  My TV looks great for day games but night games look like complete sh*t.

It basically gives you 3 different pictures and oh adjust your picture settings according to their instruction.

Brightness: picture of close up of man in black shirt w/blk jacket, 3 blacks-shirt, jacket & lapel, adjust to see all 3

Contrast: picture of 2 people in white shirts, adjust so you can see the wrinkles in shirts, corrects 'blooming'

Color: pic of 3 women, 1 made up too much, 1 pasty & 1 normal(?), adjust your color levels to suit

Takes about 30mins & knowing how to operate your TV...

    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.
