What will Cam do

Most of the talk this offseason has been about the Hardy situation, but for me theres a bigger issue at hand for the panthers.

Cams now be identified verbally as the franchises qb by gettleman, this is still no clear indication that cam is in his and the panthers long term plans though, since Cam arrived in 2011 the panthers have obviously had two losing season and now a winning one and although there were glimpses of his ability in those three seasons, I'm sure many on here will agree he has been handicapped from day one of arriving in carolina.

Cam obviously come to an organization looking to rebuild and find a new identity, in the drafts and free agency since Cam has been a panther there has been little done to give the guy weapons and any kind of offense where he can show all his attributes and be the qb most initially envisaged he would be in the nfl! Now back to today this offseason 2014, if Cam is offered a new long term deal, is he to agree with the upmost faith in gettleman and Ron to give him what he should have by now, the kind of offense his skill set and ambitions desire and can utilize to win championships and superbowls, or is Cam to be hesitant and wait it out another year and see if another offseason goes by and his wants and needs to help him win go unanswered! It's interesting because Cam could sit out the rest of his deal and go to a organization who will give him what he's been starved of for three seasons, I mean the colts decided on Andrew Luck and made all the moves possible to give him every chance to succeed, is there a point that if this offseason the offense goes unaddressed he decides his future is elsewhere not with the panthers.

In my opinion gettleman needs to address the Oline twice and get cam atleast three or four new receivers whether it be tight ends or wideouts whatever, this offseason although salary capped the panthers front office needs to show Cam Newton that he is the face of this franchise and he will be for the next ten years! He needs all his questions answered and all the help possible in terms of player personnel thrown at him, otherwise carolina will never see the best of cam and he will likely be gone in a few years.

This offseason is as important as the panthers have seen in a long long time.

Cam's not leaving.

Money talks.  If he doesn't get a contract/treatment befitting his status as the top young QB in the league.......he will end up with a big blue star on his silver helmet in a couple of seasons.  Just saying.  That skeletor looking dude in Texas throws money at everybody; and in a season or two Romo won't be a Cowboy anymore.

It's going to take more then 14.5 million a season to get it done. On a 7 year deal, Cam will be looking for 120-140+ million dollars. It's going to take at least 18-20 million or more a season to sign Cam long term.

Yeah probably. Mine was wishful thinking. But I do know that it's not so much how big the contract is. Most important is how much is guaranteed.

Either way we just need to lock up the big guy for the long term before he gets even more expensive.

If He didn't want to be here, I wouldn't want to keep a player on the roster who didn't want to play for us. With that being said, Cam seems to love this team and city. He can buildhis own legacy in Charlotte. The owner loves him which is a biggie. The great times in Charlotte is just in its infancy stages. This team will be competing for a long time. You can definitely see in the last 3 seasons that there is a shift happening. A Change so to speak. We have players with attitude who has no other desire but to win. The fans are being more aggressive than ever. Things are exciting for us and I am sure he will be here for the long haul.

The heck with that

6 yr 75 mill is about right.

No way he should be paid like Manning, Brees or Brady

He should be tiered with Luck, Wilson, Kaep and not the other three

Good thing you are not the owner/GM then.  There's no way he takes those numbers. Zero chance.  It would be amusing to see the kind of death match bidding war that would go down if Cam doesn't re-up with the Panthers, but I really hope that Gman and Co can get it done and bring him back.

There's no point in debating why Cam should get "Manning, Brees, or Brady" money.  He should.  And he probably will.  I just hope it gets done without hamstringing the team.

Luck and Wilson are still on their rookie deals so they don't factor in the equation.  And Kaep will get paid stupid money too.

He is not top tier and should not get top tier money, simple as that.

Once the next contract is up, maybe he will be a Brady or Manning QB, but not now.

I am certain that there are elements of the Colts that think Luck is worthy of Manning money, that Kaep is and Wilson is, but they are not.  Not yet anyway

Dumbest think Gman could do is overpay and then not afford any other tools

And by the way, I meant 5 yr.  Hit the wrong button.

6 yr would be 90 Million as I have him no more than 15 per yr, just let the rest of the second group

When you are dealing with a 24 year old QB, if you are going to lock him up for 6 years you are likely going to pay him for how good he is going to be and not where people think he is today.

If we don't another team gladly would.
