Kiper believes we'll draft the next Steve Smith: Cooks

top dawg

Recommended Posts

Mel Kiper has referred to Brandon Cooks as the next Steve Smith per Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. Kiper also believes that Cooks will be our pick at 28.

I would quote some things, but the Observer looks like it has done something to the pages that causes problems when we go to post threads, so screw it. I am tired of seeing error messages, and losing type.

Anyway, Kiper mentions that the draft is deep at WR, so even if we don't draft a WR early, he mentions other names that have not really been mentioned in the Huddle so much like Paul Richardson, Martavis Bryant, and Cody Latimer. Kiper also notes that the draft is deep at tackle, if the Panthers decide to go that way early, and believes that six will be taken in the first round, including three in the top 11.

The article does note that Ja'Wuan James is an "intriguing" RT, which intrigues me because I think this guy will end up being a steal if he goes outside the second round.

Latimer...

Been watching his cut up/ highlights/ whatever I can find on YouTube/Internet this week actually.

Assuming one of Robinson, Beckham or Benjamin will be available at 28 I'd be pissed if they took Cooks.

Thanks.

I am going to resist judging Cooks by size alone. An explosive play maker is an explosive play maker.

Cooks doesn't "wow" me. To draft someone that size at 28 overall I'd atleast like for him to be faster. I think he may be there in the second. I'd rather have Landry over Cooks.

But I'm also alot higher on Robinson than others. If you actually watch Robinson's cut ups, there's a few times where he has his man beat deep and the throw was awful. I know he had alot of screen passes thrown his way, but I think that's speaks more about the athlete he is than anything.

We need strong outside receivers that Cam can rely on to make a play. We need guys like Boldin and Crabtree. So I'd love to double dip and get take Robinson and the first and Moncrief in the second.

We already have King, Ginn (assuming brought back) and Smitty. I don't want another small receiver. Bring in some legit outside receivers and move Smitty to the slot.

Copy and paste it into Notepad, then cut and paste from Notepad to the board (it washes the code out).

    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
    • Nah we just talking about giving a platform and normalizing predators (who both beat women) opinions and celebrating it if it fits your narrative.  If that's fun I'm fine being a miserable fug by not supporting P.O.S like that. N b4 you call me a libtard or some other dumb ish know I'm an Anarchist/Libertarian and believe both these dudes should get a complete ass whooping (at min) or something worse for what they have done to women in this world.
