The Stewart Situation (I know right? Never been discussed before)

I thought the idea was to not have our franchise quarterback be our leading rusher again. There are people who actually believe the solution to our run game is to cut our one RB that consistently sees the field? There are no guarantees that Stewart will ever be the same again.

I don't think either will get cut this year.

"Consistently sees the field"...you're talking bout Williams right? Haha

I know it's not the greatest idea but I feel we simply don't need JS. If it's worth just letting him sit and get around 300-600 yards another year, it's cool but he just doesn't seem part of the puzzle.

It's more then a hit. We would be paying him more to be off the roster then to be on it. It makes no sense.

Yep, I mean that's pretty much how I prefaced the question to see if anyone would be willing to do that for an extra roster spot.

Yes, cutting Williams would be foolish. Who would we replace him with? Barner? The jury is still out, but he definitely isn't ready yet. The best scenario for Stewart would be to see what he has this season, and if he still can't stay on the field, next year we bite the bullet.

Crying over either of their contracts anymore is incredibly pointless, we are where we are. Williams is at least producing though.

If I cut him and his contract puts me in a worse financial situation than if I keep him. No.

Not to mention that by cutting him and accelerating his dead money I still have to fill the roster spot left behind furthering the amount of money sunk into the situation. Again NO.

The answer is no.

Not just no, but hell NO.

Question:

If you were GM and you're sitting in Gettlemans shoes cap & player wise, would you cut Stewart in June and just take the cap hit?

I ask because I think he's great...but it's a waste having him and his contract here. Think about it this way: we cut stew and Godfrey in June and CG's savings cover the JS cap hit. I know that's not how it works but I think we need to just ditch Stewart. We're not trading him barring a restructure and we don't need him to get to 12-4.

I'd make Williams a June 1 cut

I'd wait one year on Stewart and then do the same with him

Then I never pay a RB again
