With a due respect to Kurb, my neck is on the block with this post.

We are so screwed when it comes to the cap and looking at it for the next 2 to 3 years doesn't look much better. When we do not supply Cam with Oline protection or wr weapons down field do you really think he will want to re-sign for what little money we will have to offer him? Even signing him will strap us from doing anything else. So sit down and take a deep breath before reading any further.

When Cam bolts year after next the best we are gonna get is a 3rd round compensatory pick. Trade him right now today to the Browns for the 4th, 26th, and 35th pick in the draft.(Browns cut their 2 QB's yesterday). You say, "No way, thats not enough! And you would be right. Get ready, don't pass out. Only do this if they agree to also take Jonathan Stewart (they need a RB) and his contract. Stewart's contract is crazy for us. We've got him until 2018 and getting 8 to 10 million a year. Just getting him off this roster will more than make up for loosing Cam for only two 1sts and a 2nd.

With the 4th pick we can trade down to the Vikings or the Lions who have been rumored to have wanted to move up to the 4th pick. We could parlay this into their 1st 2nd and next years 1st.

These two moves would solve our cap issues and load us up on picks to restock our team with talent. We can easily find a good QB in the 1st round this year with either the 4th, 8th or 10th pick.

Love Cam but the writing is on the wall and this is a viable solution.

Uhhhhhhhh??????????

Wut??????!

Seriously????

Not worth it, a full draft and 3 first round picks plus two big time players back = only way you should ever think about it.... So never, plus you can't trade the bonus money and that's the damning part of Stewarts contract.

Wtf is going on with this place lately.

Show of hands, who really thinks Cam will be here in 2 years? Is he worth losing for a 3rd rounder? Get what we can for him now and we don't have an issue with our cap in 2 years if we can ship Stew with him. What is Stews cap hit if traded this year through 2018?

After letting every meaningful FA not named Hardy walk, adding no one notable in FA, and unceremoniously cutting Steve Smith, swinging a trade to deal Cam Newton away would likely be the last straw for much of the fanbase.  Every home game next year would be an away game for the Panthers because the stadium would be packed with opposing fans.

I've been a huge fan of the Panthers for many years, but I'm not gonna lie, it might be the last straw for me too.  That would be a clear sign that this organization truly gives zero fugs about winning.  I don't believe that's true right now.  I wonder what the fug is going on, but as of now, as much as I may bitch, I have to hope Gettleman has a plan and knows what the fug he's doing and that plan is to build a perennial winner.

    • Wanting that type of play and being okay with paying $55 million a season for it are two entirely different things. If Bryce were to become the same player Purdy has been, then he would surpass my expectations of him and I'd be okay with him as our QB of the future (and again, I've long been one of the bigger anti Bryce people here who doesn't think he is capable of being our long term solution). But in no world would I be okay with paying him THAT kind of money, paying an average starter elite money is just a terrible decision.
    • I don't think they can overcome that mistake. Hell Lance was a hiccup compared to this. He isn't going to be able to carry that price tag and now he is going to have to do just that. Lol. The NFL is so dumb sometimes.
    • So, one could say that T-Mac is quicker than someone of his size should be and while he might not be quite as fast as Evans in the 40, he's more athletic than Evans. If only someone, anyone, could have seen that in his tape and mentioned that on here, hmmmmmmm In all seriousness, hearing he tested in the 89th percentile in that drill at his size is crazy impressive.  Just tried to look up the times of the top WRs in the league right now, most don't show at time for that, but I did see Chase ran his in 7 seconds flat. I honestly don't know how true this is, but I do remember seeing one breakdown of his tape and the person said he has quiet and efficient feet.  That he's really good at using the minimal steps possible to make his cuts and because of that, it actually makes him look slower to the human eye because you don't see all the quick chop steps that the guys like Tyreek would use in their running. I'm still in a state of disbelief that he's a Panther and it might not fully hit me until week 1 and I see him out there making plays for us, still feels like Goodell is going to just be like, "YOU GOT PUNKED!!!  hahaha, he's a Cowboy now, suck it"
