Smitty on Dan Patrick show Tuesday morn

89 loves Charlotte, the Panthers and Richardson.

He is also 35 and knows the business side of the sport at this stage. As Gross does.

89 isn't going to burn the bridge to where he fully intends to retire.

Now if a GM or coach leaves....he might take some shots at them when they aren't here

I think the only guy Smitty will hate is Gettleman. And it's understandable, this was pretty much his decision alone.

Gettleman is convinced he's right in the long term, and only time will tell.

He is right. Even if it hurts the team this year. Keeping Smith & picking up his tab for '15-'16 would've been retarded.

It was the right move. Smith wouldn't have taken a big enough pay cut & left all that money.

As long as we have McNutt to entertain us with almost TD catches we should be okay. I personally think we take stony Washing from App in the 6th. 5-10 205 4.5 40 38.5 inch vertical with the hands to match his leaping ability. Anyone who watched App at ECU knows this guy is for real. Runs crisp routes and gets by defenders. Also put up 225 22 times at his pro day.

Great player for a late round pick for us.

Oh, and he actually played receiver through high school and college. He's very Steve Smith like in regards to size, leaping ability, hands, and burst. So that's someone to watch.

He is a stud receiver with great hands. Somebody will pick him up.

He pretty much said as much this morning on ESPN.

"Do you feel they owed you anything? Did they offer a way for you to stay there or was it just it's over? Would you have liked that option or did it matter?"

"Nothing was ever discussed. Yes, I would've at least like to have been offered that so I could have made the decision for myself."

Do you really think Steve would have played here for $2mil this season? Because even if it had been an option, that's about all DG would've offered him. Smith is making $9.75mil this year. He wasn't gonna take a nearly $8mil pay cut this season just to stay in Carolina. He's stated numerous times before he wouldn't.

    • Don't have to be miss cleo. His weakness are length, athleticism, creating his own shot, defense, finishing at the rim,  Strengths - shooting and IQ.   Likely won't work as non athletic shooters don't typically work.

    • I live in Indiana and took a trip that weekend to watch my two friend's teams play (Chiefs and Vikings) IN Minnesota when they were playing at a college field, I think TCF? Anyways, our plan was to watch the game (noon game) then do some shopping at the Mall of America, I wasn't planning on watching the Panthers play Seattle since I was out sight seeing and walking around after the noon game had ended. By the time we were walking back into the Mall the Panthers were down by 2 scores in the 4th or going into the 4th and we were all thirsty from walking around for 2.5 hours after the Vikings game so we decided to postpone shopping until after we ate. We found this nice little sports bar inside the mall that had the game on. Man, I'm so glad we skipped shopping because that was probably the most excited I've been in some time for a win. Beating Seattle in 2015 felt like the "monkey off the back" sort of feeling and I knew we had finally arrived as a team. The entire bar erupted when Cam hit Olsen for that walk off TD. Literally one of the greatest moments of my life. My friend wasn't so happy though lol, by the time the Panthers game ended ALL of the stores inside the mall had closed and he wasn't able to get any souvenirs. It was his first time watching a Vikings game live and making a trip like that so he was legit upset lol. I on the other hand couldn't have been happier.
