2015: These players if cut in the 2015 league year will currently net us huge sums of cap space and take their future cap numbers off the books. These are those contracts.

Charles Johnson saves the Panthers $8,580,000 in cap space in 2015 if released, he will also save them $12,420,000 in 2016.

Thomas Davis saves the Panthers $4,500,000 in 2015 if released. He has the 2016, '17, and '18 years voided on his contract.

Greg Olsen saves the Panthers $4,300,000 in 2015 if released. He has the 2016 and 2017 years voided on his contract.

DeAngelo Williams saves the Panthers $733,333 in 2015 if released. His following two season's are voided. He would likely be released after 2015 regardless.

We would save $18,113,333 in 2015 by cutting all these players. Which then could be used to sign them to even more team friendly deals. I doubt Olsen gets cut however. His production matches his pay.

2016: Only two players would currently be in danger of being cut for financial reasons in 2016.

Ryan Kalil saves the Panthers $4,392,000 in 2016 if released. His following two seasons are already voided.

Jonathan Stewart saves the Panthers $2,250,000 in 2016 if released, he would likely be a June 1st cut. He will also save the Panthers $8,250,000 in 2017 if cut, obviously if he is designated as a June 1st cut, that number would shrink.

I used cross references from http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/ and Salary Cap Calculator - Over the Cap.

With Gentleman's conservative GM style, how do you guys feel these players will fair in regards to their future with the team? There is hope for renegotiations with some players like Greg Olsen and Ryan Kalil. There is a giant question mark hovering over Charles Johnson. We also all can't wait to be done with J. Stew and DeAngelo's contracts.

Lets get through this offseason first

Oh cool, lets get back to D-Jax and Gettlemania threads.

EDIT: This also deals with weather this is the last season for a lot of these players in a Carolina Panther uniform. I made this thread after realizing this might be the last season we see T. Davis here.

I think if Hardy gets signed long term CJ might be gone. Olsen always produces. Williams produces still.

Stewart I wouldn't miss. It's like he's already gone just taking up money.

I would really miss Kalil. I've seen him make some great plays. One that sticks out, Newton threw an interception he tosses the DL out of the way and bear hugs the CB to the ground.

    • Well there goes the bullied victim spiel.
    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
