Rivera says Steve Smith wasn't a distraction

Its not like anyone knows what was really going on. Just foolish to keep making speculation threads. Even if smitty has 1000yds 8 tds it still was probably the right decision.

Of course ron isnt going tonthrow smitty under the bus. Doesnt mean hed prefer him to be on the team

Not if we miss the playoffs because we have nobody to throw to.

I just want DG to make me believe this was a good decision, he's sold me on everything else except this and the hardy tag. whether distraction, money, or anything else make fans believe cutting a franchise player like smith was the right move...........all this he said she said bs is getting fuggin old

We lose the best player in franchise history, and have yet to replace him. There is nobody in FA or the draft at 28 that can replace him. So it's safe to say he won't be replaced this year.

Our Pro Bowl LT retires and the team think's Byron Bell(a player most thought shouldn't even be on the roster)is a replacement.

We wipe out our entire WR core and haven't gotten any younger at the position (unless you count king and mcnutt)or better.

We fail to sign a hometown kid that was arguably the best replacement for Steve Smith.

As of right now and most likely going forward we will be banking on a young unproven oline and mediocre wrs. Who will be catching passes from fuging Joe Webb until training camp.

And to top it all of, my fuging PSL season tickets have gone up.

But hey we signed Jerricho Cotchery!!! woooohoooooo!!! And the HAIR, omg we signed the hair. The HAIR is in Charlotte ladies and Gents!!. I'm thrilled, I really am.

thank you for a synopsis of why i made my comment. you are thinking completely about the right now. i get it man. i really wasnt trying to insult you. im not saying these decisions have been easy ones. ive had to wrestle with a few of them myself.

yes. we lost our best player and the face of our franchise. but he is EASILY replaceable NOW. 3 years ago no one could say that. his numbers and leadership can both be easily replaced. as for getting younger, you simply lack patience. we are about to get ALOT younger at the WR position. see theres this event in May... Cotchery and the Hair are stopgap backups. no one is pretending they are more than that. could they become more than that? especially the Hair? maybe. that's up to them. but i still see no reason to panic. as for Nicks... he simply asked for too much money. i dont blame Gettleman's decision there at all. there is other talent to be had for MUCH less money.

i hear you on the Bell issue. the guy is not a starter at RT or LT. however, you show no confidence in our FO to look at 3 weeks of evidence and conclude that hope is lost in replacing the talent on the OL. they did it last year at other positions with a larger cap-handicap. patience.

the problem i see is that alot of fans are tired of being patient, including you Aceboogie. i get that. i dont blame you for it. ive been a fan since the SB run in 03/04 and ive become impatient at times too. but there has never been a better time than now to be patient and trust our front office. despite popular opinion, our core is not the journeymen and old guys it has been in years past. our core is a young, tough, and talented team. there is so much to work with. and now we see a businessman making business decisions, not all of which we are going to understand as lay football fans.

my question for you is what are you a sports fan for? so what if your team makes bad offseason decisions in YOUR opinion. are you gonna pout and mope and not use those PSLs of yours next year? sell them to me if not! cus i'd love to go and cheer on my team! idk about you but i am a sports fan because i am an optimist. i choose to see the bright side. i choose to believe the best about my team and those managing it. if youre not gonna do the same, perhaps its best that you do take your break from the Huddle. remove your negative attitude. its not needed in the offseason (really its not needed any time). be a real fan. understand your place. cheer on whatever team the organization puts on the field. its not like you can change it so you might as well find the best about it and focus on that.

He had six drops. That's 30th in the league. To put that into perspective, he had more drops in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2012.

The #'s dont impact me as much as the situations where he was dropping them. He flat out dropped passes that were uncharacteristic of him to do so. I apprec the stats, but I remember watching the games and being shocked at the kinds of drops he had.

Couple that with his speed being less of a factor at this point.

He dropped two passes in the Arizona game - I can't honestly recall another drop. But his drop percentage was basically the same as 2012.

I'm a fan simply because my father was/is. He passed down his love of the panthers to me and it's not something you can just get rid of. Being a fan doesn't mean you have to agree with or even support the decisions that are made. I'm a fan of the panthers, I don't work for them. In reality they actually work for me and every other fan that puts money into their pockets. Being a fan gives you the right to be upset and have negative views, something the players can't really afford to have. The concerns I have are legitimate, and as long as I spend money on them I will continue to have them. I don't post here as much as I do in the season, stick around it'll get better.

I'm taking a break from the huddle man, people are really trying to pretend Cotchery is and upgrade over Smitty. Keep drinking that kool aid, from Jim Jones.

I agree that cotchery is not an upgrade over smith. Granted, they play two separate roles. I do not believe cotchery was brought in the replace smith. I tend to believe he was brought in to replace lafell. The upgrade over smith has not be acquired yet. Either very a draft or June 1 cuts.

Cotchery is our guy who will make tough, clutch first down catches, and will bring physicality to our offense via blocking etc.

I've seen many of his games as a Jet.  Clearly you did, too.  Crotchery is a strong player who plays with heart and effort.  He won't replace Smith nor will he put up the stats that Smith did.  What Crotchery will do is get you the possessions you need when you need them because he is a smart player that does what is neccessary to make plays.  He is not Anquan Boldin - he's just not that good.  He's not Wes Welker because he is not that ellusive.  He is not Danny Amendola because he's just not that fast.  But he is tough.  He does have good hands.  And he does run good routes.

aren't you that guy that admitted he skipped out on bills games so he could sit on the beach and sip peach daquairies with his wife?

Ha.  So many things wrong with that statement.  Where to begin.

I don't skip out on Bills games.  If anything I just hang my head and walk in to a dark room and cry.  I'd say that is retreating and/or giving up but I think it'd be more accurate to say that it is routine.

If I get a chance to sit on a beach...well, I do need a vacation.  I work 80-90 hours a week.

Peach daquaries?!   I do not know if I have ever even had a daquarie.  I enjoy beer.  I like some liquor.  I don't even get foo foo enough for wine.  Hell, I make a trek 30 minutes just to go to a beer emporium to get rare beers.

Wife...crap.  I am the consumate bachelor.  These Carolina girls may look good but as soon as they open their mouth almost all appeal is lost.  Its more to do with the small town I live then Carolina girls - but Charlotte and RDU are exceptions, clearly.  And, if I wanted a bulldyke lesbian I guess I could go to Asheville.

Lmao....Bills fans trolling panther forums in the off season.

Ain't trollin.  But, I like that you're in to CP and for life.
