The long term solution at RB

Deangelo williams is 30 and  Jstew cant stay on the field. With everyone talking about our need at wideout we have a need thats going to need to be addressed within the next 2-3 years thats going to conflict with the re-signing of keek and star. is kenyon barner the future at the postion? maybe if he bulks up some but i don't see he being in the league after his rookie contract is up. Is drafting a RB early really that out of the question?

did you really need to ask the huddle and take a chance at getting annihilated to find out the answer?

I think Barner can be the answer to our backfield problems in the way that Armanti was the answer to our KR/PR problems. Best case scenario, Barner is Dexter McCluster which isn't saying much at all. Unlike linemen, RB is an excellent position for a late round draft pick. No reason to blow a high pick on Trent Richardson when you can get an Alfred Morris late in the draft.

Stewart will be our feat back for atleast 3 years and Mike Tolbert will be the FB. We probably will pick up a change of pace back in 2015 draft.

in 2012 barner rushed for 1761 yards 21 td's --- he had an additional 256 yrads receiving and 2 td's --- he did this in the pac 12... season highling he had 321 yards against rivial USC. obviously the kid has skills. was he ready for the jump to the nfl last year...he did not appear to be, given the small number of opportunities that he was given. just give the guy a chance... what do we have to lose = ZERO.

i thought barner looked completely lost when he was on the field. sure he was a rookie, but he definitely wasn't ready.

I agree, and he's a fumbler.

I'll take a good ball carrier with good vision over a scat back any day.

Hard to say Stew is going to be our back for the next 3 years. Only once in the last 4 years he played all 16 games. The past 2 years he's played a combined 15 games with a total of 141 carries. Very doubtful he holds up for a full season much less 3 as a feature back. We're going to need someone else. Whether or not that's Barner remains to be seen.
