DeSean Jackson agrees to terms with Redskins

I see that and agree on the surface, but if that were true, why did Philly basically pay him to leave?  Kelly is not a church choir director-he has had some challenging players with off-field issues.  Until that question is answered, the story is not over.  It comes down to this:  Why did Philadelphia's reason for cutting a star "game changer" not seem to matter to the Redskins?

I think, if he would have come here for a reasonable price, I would have accepted him with reservations.  Watching a player for 3 hours on Sunday does not paint the full impact of his presence in the locker room and in the public eye off the field.  The NFL has brands and it is a business.  A player who tarnishes that brand is not worth the risk in most cases.

There is no end to the story.  There is an end to chapter 1.

Well it certainly isn't because he couldn't make plays. It's probably more of a long term solution for cap, or maybe him and Kelly didn't really get along (possibly both). The gang thing probably wouldn't have cracked many front pages unless he was in fact involved in a crime. Having said that I don't know what the Philadelphia media is like.

Agreed,  He is a baller.  I remember Cowher once said something like, "You can tolerate the off field problems as long as they don't outweigh production."  So a star player gets away with more than a Practice Squad player.  If that is the same approach used here, what the heck was going on? Jackson is a stud.

You guys love to hate on players the panthers don't sign. Desean Jackson is a game changer, period end of story.

Based on skillset alone, you are absolutely correct.

Based on the headache that he is and all of the crap...not so sure.

Based on the cost...was NEVER going to happen here.

I would much rather have one of the top WR's in the draft and pay him about $1M than have DJax at that cost.

I think it probably is a couple of things with the Eagles:

1.  He is a headache...maybe more than even we know

2.  He is making a ton

3.  WR class is very deep and they can get his replacement for a fraction of the cost

Supposedly when Chip Kelly got there this past year from the very first day of training camp, it was D-Jax and Vick that were running that locker room and they were Andy's guys. Chip had success last year and wants it to be his team now, with "his guys" so I don't think it is a coincidence that both Vick and D-Jax are now gone.

Sure there was other stuff with D-Jax that built up over time, (reported gang affiliation, bit of a diva, $$$$, his house getting "broken" into and a ton of cash and guns getting stolen, etc) but ultimately Chip just wanted it to be 100% his team and feels he can plug someone else into that system and have the same success.

These little girls are so funny here...

If we signed Jackson there would have been posts talking about Super Bowl this and playoffs that.

Now that the Redskins got him hes a scrub and not worth it and sucks and is going to jail anyway or is the anti christ or whatever other sort of nonsense can be conjured up.

What that other guy said is pretty damn true around here. If we sign a player that player is obviously the bomb! if we don't... he's a scrub anyway!

Classic

Exactly....Chip wants his type of guys and he obviously has the authority to make that call.

Now the team is his to turn over to whoever he wants or maybe he will want to be the main influence(sort of like in college). If the latter is true I wonder how that will go over in an NFL locker room though.

When was the last time that a team that "won the offseason" actually turned out to be good with those players? The Bucs and the Eagles "dream team" come to mind.

Jackson appears to be a real distraction and so is RG3, so this should be interesting. Add Shannahan's no nonsense attitude and get your popcorn.

1. The Broncos

2. Explain how RGIII is a distraction

3. Shanahan, outside of RGIII's rookie year, hasn't even had a winning record in a decade

I've never been to another teams board where more than a handful of people there would piss on Cam Newton if he were on fire. The oerwhelming majority have a personal hatred toward him and it's a small few that even post something positive about the guy. It is what it is. fug them and their teams.

I have no idea where people get the notion that Cam Newton is respected or liked around the league. Newton is barely respected on the Huddle, and I would say 70% of people on the Observer cannot stand Newton and actively root for him to fail. And this is when Cam is doing reasonable well and the Panthers are winning.

Outside of Charlotte? Or outside of Panthers forums? Lol let's just say people need to wait until the season begins and go visit the boards of our upcoming opponent. I can assure you Newton gets anything but respect.
