28. Carolina Panthers

The Pick: OT Taylor Lewan, Michigan

We all know that the Carolina Panthers need help at wide receiver, but that's not their biggest need. Left tackle is actually the team's most glaring weakness.

The retirement of Jordan Gross put the team in a tough spot. Not only must they completely rebuild the wide receiver corps, but they must find a blindside protector to keep Cam Newton's jersey clean. Add those needs on top of existing holes throughout the offensive line and secondary, and this is a big offseason for Dave Gettleman and the front office.

Taylor Lewan comes with some off-field question marks, but he's the tough-as-nails blocker the team needs when facing NFC South defenses. That he's still available at No. 28 overall is more due to the allegations off the field than it is a lack of talent.

60 — Carolina Panthers: Allen Robinson, WR, Penn State

92 — Carolina Panthers: Keith McGill, CB, Utah

128 — Carolina Panthers: Bruce Ellington, WR, South Carolina

168 — Carolina Panthers: Chris Watt, OG, Notre Dame

204 — Carolina Panthers: Shaquil Barrett, OLB, Colorado State

225 — Carolina Panthers (from New York): Jake Murphy, TE, Utah

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
