D-Will in shock over loss of receiving corp

I'm not sure where people are getting that he is trashing his team. Notice there are no quotes of him saying he is not convinced that this years passing game won't be good as last years. That is what the writer wrote down. I believe a lot of people on the team were shocked when Smith got let go and rightfully so. I just never seem to get the D WIll hate that goes on sometimes. It is his fault for making good money? If I was in the same spot as him, I wouldn't even blink at the thought of taking a paycut. You have to get the money while you can. With that being said, It is not position to worry about how much "so and so" makes. I could careless. I leave the money issues up to the front office. I am a fan of my team and I will always root for the product on the field, even in hard times ( if you could only see me in 2010 lol).

Take the money and run...got no problem with that. But don't wonder (out loud) what the team is doing when they have no money to bring top FA WRs when so much money is tied up in the RB postion...your postion.

Again, what does deangelo or his correct have to do with our moves at the WR position?

To think the two are linked implies that someone believes money is the reasoning for the moves we've made, which is just as silly as ridiculing someone for taking millions of dollars when offered to them

I don't really understand the point you are trying to make here.  But to think that our cap situation, partially caused by having two massive RB contracts on the books, isn't influencing our receiver moves then you are not paying attention.

Most people don't realize in order to run the ball effectively you need a good oline or a damn good scheme, we have neither. You can put Leseasn McCoy back there it won't matter. Watch the Eagels, he runs through wide open holes. You also need legitimate threats at WR, if they don't fear the pass its 8 or 9 in the box and you ain't running against that.

I'm sorry but you don't put that much money into one guy if he can't do anything without linemen creating wide open holes. If that's how you run the ball with success, then deangelo shouldn't even have been playing here since 2011, which is exactly the point I've been making the last three years!

Why would it be influenced by the cap? What does the cap have to do with which players you sign and retain?

I thought posters stopped falling for that management bargaining chip propaganda about the time the saints dished out massive dollars to one of the best players available this offseason

And you'll also find a better oline/scheme.

wait

so if we found a better oline/scheme than dwill would be better? HOLY poo why didn't i think of that?

i dunno probably because if i drafted a RB in the 5th or 6th round he could still post similar production with a better oline/scheme and be the fraction of the cost.

then buddy, we could use that money to bring in a FA that you have been bitching and crying about all offseason.

Just because you play on an NFL team doesn't mean you know how to run one or put together one that can win a championship.

Coaches coach, players play, and GM's put together the team.  I expect Gettlemen could play running back about as well as D-lo could gernal manage an NFL team.

And another thing is that even though he's being underpaid and it affects his game more directly, we don't hear cam newton bitching about the front office. Instead, the biggest albatross on the team is wondering why the FO can't corral a receiver.

...and some people wonder why Williams isn't a very popular guy on these boards. I mean technically Stewart is an even bigger waste of money long term, but at least he isn't complaining

    • Everyone knew the catch was secured and didn't move. That was clear to the entire audience. The only ones who thought it wasn't a catch were in the NYC home office. They knew they'd just offer an apology the next day.
    • NEVER FORGET!!!!   Canales was on no one's radar. Tepper couldn't get anyone to come here. He was all in on Ben Johnson. Nobody wants to work with Tepper, however Canales tenure may prove important for the next guy. This guy still has no idea what he's doing.
    • The 4th down play was poor execution by Chuba. He didn't want to get physical like Rico and cut North South to lean on his blocks from Tremble and Ekwonu for half a yard. Also, the 3rd down play before that Bryce audibled out to a QB run and almost got the 1st down was on Chuba for not knowing the play call leading to poor execution. You can see Chuba's confusion when Bryce had to realign him. Then Chuba thought he was getting the handoff and was slow to develop his double team on the DE with Tremble. Then Chuba hesitated on pushing the block and just ran to the sideline making Bryce have to loop around him. This pulled the DE away from Tremble forcing Chuba to chip on the DE late and leaving the safety as a free defender. Chuba was suppose to double down on the DE to let Tremble peel off to the safety. This allows Bryce to set up his run to the inside or outside after the safety commits. You can also see Tremble walk over to talk to Chuba after the play and Chuba shrugs which tells me he didn't know what to do. The audible would have worked on 3rd and the dive would have worked on 4th. The plays were good calls and drawn up well. The question is why was Chuba unprepared for those plays in two critical back to back plays? I like Chuba as a 1st down RB and passing downs, but I have always seen him lacking the power and vision to be a short yardage power back. Chuba didn't come prepared for the Saints game or he was thrown into a position at the 3 spot that he was never prepared for.
