Is Deangelo Williams a multiple 1000 yard all pro running back if he was never paired with stewart

I'll just say this much DeAngelo's never run for 1000 yards without Stewart for at least most of a season so it's not Stewart's fault he can't find consistency and who gives a poo anyway he plays like the least important position on the field

Good point but I think you also have to take in account the o-line and the lack of threats at WR. When opposing teams are able to stack the box and your line isn't that great, it makes it hard for any RB. I also think that D Will have been a solid rb for us the last few years. I could careless how much he gets paid, more power to him. I still think splitting time with other backs can help with prolonging careers.

That 2008 season d-will had was still one of the best seasons ever for a runningback imo. 1500 yards with 18 tds and a 5.5 ypc while splitting carries is unheard of

Deangelo should have been the starter day one when we drafted him. Yes I do believe he would be viewed in a much higher regard. Deangelo's skillset is pretty unique compared to the rest of the league. However he probably would have been burnt out by now and cut already.

unfortunately, poor pass protection is what kept williams from supplanting foster from day one. he even admitted to such.

yeah but i think it has less to do with Stewart and more to do with the amount of carries he got, more carries and d will would have easily got 1000 yards on several seasons

I was recently looking at his stats and i noticed that if he was the feature back and we had no one behind him he would have eclipsed 1000 yards every year he's been a panther. I think the view of him would be completly different if stew had never been in the picture.

Absolutely. He has what close to a 5 yards per carry average? Dude would get a lot more respect and a little less hate for his contract if stew wasn't here.

That said, I think without Stewie, his career would be just like Chris Johnson's. Some solid years, some subpar. It's all about the o-line, his talent, and the scheme. Not just the man.

The only thing that made Williams special was his top end speed. He doesn't have the physical power or catching ability that you would like your RBs to have. He was only good when we had that amazing OL several years ago.

not necessarily, i think that's one of the reasons but i think our offensive philosophy change is the bigger reason
