I don't think we are having Morrow start in our top 6 next year unless free agency goes truly awful for us. Our front office (or at least Rod) would rather have Burns than Morrow

Many of the talking heads at the beginning of the season thought we'd have a season like New Jersey where we'd make the playoffs but get bounced pretty early. We did take a step back defensively, and lost TT and Noesen. We could have used his net presence this year. I think what hurt us the last few years is the 2nd line center spot. I was happy to see Svech and Aho have a good playoff run. That didn't happen last year. We bolster the defense, get a 2nd line C, and find a grit guy to screen the goalie on PPs we should be right where we want to be. I also think if I was the Hurricanes brass, I'd be having conversations with Rod about coaching changes. Gleason is about the only one I'd consider safe. PP has to get better regardless of roster, and if PK is the dude of the future, he has to improve.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... when your star player is a wide receiver, you've got problems. When it's a receiver with a reputation for being difficult to work with, it's even worse. Couldn't have happened to a better team. I'm still bitter about 2003.

And our division Foes have the same basic schedule. Win the division. Get into the playoffs and go for it all. If we lose in the playoffs we at least have experience in the playoffs. I'll take the playoff experience over a couple of draft spots. We just have to hope DM and DC can continue to pick studs in the draft.

Heck of a season boys. I didn’t think we would make it here. Lots of money to spend this offseason. Next year is when Rod gets truly judged. Luckily we won't have orlov on this team next year. If we do keep burns, he needs to not be on the top line (although he did play a very good game four and five in the series). We have to get second line scoring and at least another top 4 D in the off season. Wouldn't mind getting Provorov and our defense looking like this - I know he is a LD, but he is a lefty. Slavin-Nikishin Burns-Provorov Ghost-Walker Forwards will be tougher because we desperately need a top six C, but it would be really nice to get Ehlers.
