Pretty sure that was the route Reich wanted to go but was overruled -
Round 6, Pick 32 (#208) - Jimmy Horn Jr, WR, Colorado
Seltzer replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Horn is probably going to be used as the primary PR to start the season, and maybe they will incorporate him into some jet sweeps, etc. My hope is that he follows the Smitty path of being the returner and then getting incorporated into the rest of the offense. Separation for the most part was still a major issue last year with our WRs. Hopefully Horn can help with that in the long-term as well as adding much needed speed in general to the WR group -
Bryce’s new look. He looks like a grown up
Seltzer replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mahomes didn't play at all his rookie season. That is one massive thing about his career people have somehow memory-holed. The Chiefs had Alex Smith, and decided the best thing would be to give Mahomes a year to develop (even though Smith wasn't great). And obviously the same with Jordan Love, etc. I wonder how different the narrative would be on Bryce if he hadn't had been put in such dysfunction his rookie season. If Bryce hadn't seen the field until the 2nd half of this past year, it would be completely different. Regardless the past is the past, the ink is dry, and he gets a chance to have a say in the narrative of his career this year. He has to perform, and I think he will. And I love Cam to death, and while he probably did have better MVP odds going into 2015 than Bryce does going into this season, no one had Cam seriously on the MVP radar going into 2015. -

this off-season, we were the happiest 5-12 fanbase in the league where other similar teams were drowning in their tears, we ended the season with hope and a seemingly upwards trajectory -
Every advanced metric has Chuba in the top 10 range last year. I think you're selling him short here. He's not one of the very best backs in the league, but he's earned a spot in that next tier IMO. I definitely think Chuba has proven to be an above average starter. Go look at broken tackles and yards carried over expected. Hubbard would get a lot more buzz if the team were more relevant. Watching Chuba break through 2 tacklers to high step into a game winning TD in OT against the Cardinals was one of the coolest images we've had on offense (besides the Bryce to Tremble pass) in quite a few years. Chuba is almost certainly the best 4th round pick in franchise history. I dont think Chuba has that final gear that CMC or Deangelo Williams had in their prime, but outside of that Chuba is solid as can be. Chuba still has good speed though. That TD run against the Bears where he blew past their entire secondary showed that. I think watching CMCs preparation showed Chuba as a rookie how much work it took, and to his credit, Chuba has always been one of the last guys off the practice field. Given all the almost comical dysfunction of the Panthers since Tepper bought the team, Chuba really is one of the few true organic successes this team has had. A 4th rounder who has turned into a borderline top 10 RB. I think Chuba deserves all his flowers. And pairing Chuba with Rico Dowdle will low-key give us one of the best 1-2 punches in the league. Both these guys had 1300+ combined yards last season. That doesnt happen without a lot of talent. And while they dont have the same 1st round pedigrees that J-Stew & D-lo had, Chuba & Rico could be the best duo since Double Trouble Hopefully they perform well enough we give them a nickname

All-Time Panthers Rushing - Hubbard should leap CMC & Foster this year
t96 replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I still think Hubbard is about as average of a starter as it gets at RB, which isn't necessarily a bad thing especially for his draft position, but he's not a guy that teams will ever gameplan for. Every other player on that list was at least at times. I don't like investing a ton in the position but I would still try to keep upgrading. Maybe not next offseason as we already have Chuba locked up and will hopefully get to see what if anything Brooks can offer, but the year after that I'd start looking again for a potential game changer at RB. Not expecting to find one immediately but take some shots on day 3 or in FA. As for our career rushing leaders, yeah it's really not great overall even with the franchise being "only" 30 years old. Stewart and Williams both dealt with injuries AND having to deal with each other (and eventually Cam) taking carries for several years, otherwise could've seen either of them surpassing 10k. McCaffrey wasn't here all that long, was hurt a lot, and his receiving usage took away from rushing yards. Cam's numbers are pretty damn high for a QB whose career was ended pretty early due to injuries. -

one thing that was interesting was how they were using Tepper. They had Eric Eager doing analytics on mocks he was running to see who might be available later and then he was relaying to them the odds of so and so being there later and then they would look at Tepper and ask wat he thinks of those odds and even then it was kind of "we're already making up our mind about this, but are you in the boat with us?" so any involvement tepper had in the discussion was limited and kind of just a courtesy. that's just my perception anyways. i could be completely wrong. wouldn't be the first time. -
Bryce’s new look. He looks like a grown up
LinvilleGorge replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bryce is trying to prove he can be considered a legit starter and the majority of our receiving corps are young guys with potential but little to no proven NFL production. This is highly unlikely to be an MVP season for Bryce. We're just trying to figure out if he's going to take the Jared Goff path or the Justin Fields path. -

The opening theme to TNG is etched into my earliest memories. To anyone who is a Trek fan and specifically a fan of TNG you should definitely give Picard a look especially the final season which ends on very nostalgic note. -

I watched the whole thing and it was overall very encouraging. The trio of Morgan/Tilis/Canales has me feeling optimistic for the future. Now we need to see this on the field. As for Tepper. I don't mind him being in the draft room and giving basic input. Anything beyond that should and will ilicit criticism. Just be an owner and let the football people make the decisions when the time comes. And that's what he did so I have no complaints. I will say as far as the draft and FA we seem to have put a higher emphasis on seeking additions with the right mentality and high character. They're trying to instill a culture. I have no idea if it will work but at least they are making it a priority. That's all I can ask for at this juncture. -

nah it'd just be throwing money away lol. Cam had already shown he was a top 10 starter and Mahomes in one game his rookie year showed more than Bryce has shown his whole career -

I like the Teppers involvement sorry. Rather have an engaged owner and then someone falling asleep in his box seat. And I think this idea that's he's been overruling the coaches have been overblown, he's just been really bad at hiring them. Canales is his attempt at course correction by making it Dan's choice. The "football guys" are still picked by the owner at the end of the day, there's no way around that so I'd rather the guy be into it. -

I actually think Bryce is a decent option as a dark horse MVP candidate. Not many people had Cam winning MVP in 2015 either. Or Mahomes in 2018. -

Dan had to of wanted the Rams 2025 1st, filler this year, 2026 1st and 2nd? More? I don't know if #26 in 2025 and probably another pick in 25-28 range in 2026 gets it done. -
McCaffrey was also such a huge part of the passing game here (and in SF) that it's easy to think he'd have a lot more rushing yards, just because of the impact he had on games (and sometimes he was it, all of it, the only guy doing anything it seemed). But good for Chuba! Here's to seeing him climb the list, at least past Cam. No slight on Cam and his historic career here, but if your franchise's third leading rusher of all time was a QB, you've had some issues.
-
CmC had a ton of reciveing yards so it wasn't just injuries thst lowered his rushing yards. Looking at just rushing yards for CMC is like just looking at passing yards for Cam or Lamar. It's a fluff way of building up the year and isn't necessarily with Hubbard. He is a good RB and all we have to do is hope for good health.
