  2. Not hating on Bryce all the time doesn’t mean I think he’s the answer. Saying ‘mostly sucks’ just sounds like you don’t want to commit. Maybe you are the one not having come to terms yet
  3. reddit is legit the worst place on the entire internet imo.
  4. Not drafted by these guys. I know Morgan was here but his actions as GM are what is being discussed
  5. They talk so much about size when we have a 5'9" QB lol. Otherwise great talk from two great players
  6. That is a great effort to document it. I had forgotten about the 5th year part up front. It was a great listen so if people have time you should maybe do that.
  7. Praying for you all and your family. Hopefully your daughter will get her life back together and some much needed help.
  8. May Day, May the 4th Be With You, Memorial Day, & Mother's Day 2026!

  9. Here’s a summary of the JJ and Luke podcast transcript. Opening / Bryce Young Fifth-Year Option • JJ: Breaking news — Panthers picked up Bryce Young’s fifth-year option at $25.9M, guaranteed, coming in 2027. Combined with his 2025 salary of ~$6M, that’s $31M over two years — called it a “no-brainer.” • Luke: Enthusiastic about the move. Highlighted Bryce’s improving TD/INT ratios (11/10 → 15/9 → 23/11) and the value of entering year three with Dave Canales. Noted $25M is a bargain relative to the $60M top of market. Luke’s Personal Update — Charlotte Christian Football • Luke: Working with Charlotte Christian school football program, which hired a new head coach. Coaches include Greg Olsen, Luke, and Greg’s dad Chris Olsen (a New Jersey State coaching Hall of Famer). • JJ: Jokingly quipped that Charlotte Christian’s coaching staff is “the world’s greatest” — a Fox analyst, a Hall of Famer, and the best Panthers RB ever — all coaching middle school football. • Luke: Praised Chris Olsen’s deep football knowledge spanning decades and his ability to connect with kids. Round 1, Pick 19 — Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia • JJ: Panthers were on the clock and submitted their pick almost immediately — a sign of confidence and preparation. Freeling is 6’7”, 320 lbs, played in the SEC in a pro-style system. • Luke: Loved the pick. Emphasized you can never have too many quality offensive linemen. Noted Freeling’s size, athleticism, and arm length as key traits. Said the pick also reflects team’s philosophy of drafting great people, not just great players. • JJ: Noted reporter Darren Gantt compared Freeling favorably to Jordan Gross — bigger, heavier, and faster — as a potential franchise left tackle. • Luke: Pointed out that young players like Freeling still have physical development ahead of them, comparing the trajectory to Christian McCaffrey’s growth from age 20 onward. Round 2, Pick 49 — Lee Hunter, DT, Texas Tech • JJ: Panthers traded up from 51 to 49 (pick swap with Minnesota) to grab Hunter. Played audio from Panthers area scout Kaden McLuhan, who scouted Hunter. • Scout Kaden McLuhan (audio): Said Hunter’s size is immediately striking, and that everyone around him spoke glowingly about his character, energy, and love for the game. • Luke: Praised Hunter as a massive (6’3”, 320 lbs, ~34” arms) two-gap nose tackle who fits perfectly in the Evero defense. Compared his prospect profile to Akiem Hicks. Said having Derek Brown, Bobby Brown, Derrick Brown, Terson Wharton, and now Hunter creates varied body types that stress offensive linemen. • JJ: Noted Hunter ranked third among all prospects in run-stuff rate and sixth in interior pass-rush win rate — addressing a perception that he couldn’t rush the passer. Rounds 3–7 Highlights • Luke: Highlighted WR Brazle (3rd round, 6’4”, 437 speed, 1,000+ yards at Tennessee) as the vertical threat the offense needed. Also praised OL Sam Heck (5th round) as a technically sound player whose “short arms” caused him to fall but who has proven himself. • Luke: Mentioned CB Will Lee (6’1”, 33” arms) fits the Panthers’ DB prototype — big, long corners. • Luke: Praised S/LB hybrid Zaki Wheatley (5th round, 6’3”) as a big nickel similar to Trayvon Merek. • Luke: Excited about the linebacker competition between Devin Lloyd, Trevvin Wallace, and Claudin Cherless. • JJ: Noted Panthers had the #1 “steal/overreach” rating in the entire draft — drafting players lower than consensus big boards projected. Around the League • Luke: Admitted being “a little jealous” that the Miami Dolphins drafted LB Jacob Rodriguez (Luke’s favorite LB in the draft). Has personal connections to Miami’s coaching staff (Jeff Hafley, DC Shawn Dugen — a childhood teammate). • Luke: Also noted Miami’s selection of OT/G Kaden Proctor out of Alabama, who will likely move to guard. League Trends — Bigger Tight Ends / 12 & 13 Personnel • JJ: Observed the NFL saw its highest run rate in ~11 years (~52%) and a notable pivot toward big blocking tight ends in this draft. • Luke: Explained the cyclical nature of NFL offense/defense evolution — as defenses get smaller to match spread offenses, teams counter with bigger personnel (12/13 formations), which then forces defenses to get bigger at the nickel/“big nickel” spot. Called it an ongoing arms race.
  10. Dan Vladar is their best player and that is going to be the difference in the series
  11. Nothing about the Flyers scare me. They are a mid team that just barely made the playoffs.
  12. If the flyers team from games 1-3 shows up it’s going to be a dogfight. If the flyers team from games 4-6 shows up, canes sweep with blowouts
  13. Giannis and Bam are pipe-dreams but so is AD? Is there a world where that could happen? Also for the record, I’m cool with staying the course and drafting best we can. But AD would be sick here.
  14. Don’t like it. But the Canes have to be able to beat any team to go all the way.
  15. I am going to suggest maybe we make a team produced video thread and sticky it. They are not doing irrelevant fluff right now, other than introducing g the draft picks. These podcasts with Luke and JJ have become good. The ones the team did with the scouts, good stuff for a fan. In particular here we have one of the most cerebral LBs ever to play giving opinion after opinion on the guys we drafted, and all kinds of stuff. And I have preached continuity the last couple of years regarding Dan and Canales, just for its own sake. Luke speaks on that here. I think we could value it a little more than we do. Small talk which you also might enjoy, was skipped; I linked to the beginning of the post draft talk.
  16. Looking like it might be game 7 for Pitt and Phi. Philly is spent. I like more rest for the canes
  17. Moton is the man through and through. 2 things I'll always give Gettleman credit for, 1 is drafting Moton, the other is building a SB contending roster and blowing it up in one off-season
  18. Kurb is still alive and well. I’m still friends with him on all of the social media. He truly is a great man! That’s my bro! He always looked out for me since the early days of the huddle. It definitely makes me sad that he just quit posting here, but that’s life. He still shares his takes on social media and X, but a lot of the huddle vets just grew tired of this format and the environment, I guess? It’s a lot of guys that were valuable contributors here that just stopped posting but are still alive and passionate Panthers fans. Blindsite used to post huge write-ups and was a well-respected poster and then just disappeared. We had one of these type threads several years ago and he checked back in and explained he just lost the motivation to stay active here. It was amazing hearing from him again… I signed up in 04 after coming over from the Charlotte.com boards and been here ever since. (For those that don’t know - this is Proudiddy - had to change the name very recently due to ‘ol tootsie roll penis and the bad press ). I’m forever thankful for all of you, even those who I haven’t had the greatest history with, I still appreciate yall. Many have come and gone, both figuratively and literally, and that has put a lot into perspective over the years. I went from a young, newly married, wide-eyed twenty year-old guy with a baby on the way, to a now forty-two year-old guy, recently divorced and newly re-married guy with my oldest baby now an adult and 5 more kids since. And what ride it has been! You guys have been a much bigger part of my life than I really care to acknowledge.
  19. A substack is a new deli item. It's a layered creation in which the turkey, ham, chicken and liver mush are alternately placed between pancakes. Lettuce and tomato are between the top two layers of flapjacks.
  20. Anyone else feel like ESPN's audio is weak? Sounds like a tin can compared to other broadcasts
  21. If you think about.. if you really draft BPA you going to have situations where they come in behind someone. They don’t All need to start day one. You are probably better off letting it happen at their pace, after all the saying a loss for each rookie you start. The biggest thing is take a good player. Easier said than done, I get it, and an oversimplification… probably. But it is the name of the game.
  22. Man. It's been so long. I couldn't tell ya when I joined. Seems like eons ago. As life, alot has come and a lot has gone. No doubt a lot of older members a are gone. It's true, fan forums aren't like this place, despite it being a relic. I definitely have cut back posting. Still visit every day. Abd despite the disagreements, we're all Panther fans, and I'll always appreciate all of you. Keep Pounding
  23. I’ve been around this place since before this place, I have always loved it here. We’ve had some of the best posters I’ve ever seen come and go! I miss a lot of them, I miss the huddle tailgate at games to, those were good times. I don’t have, nor do I want anything related to social media so this was then and is now my go to place for Panthers information, some laughs and sometimes to vent frustrations. Hope this place never goes away and I hope one day some of the old posters that no longer frequent come back.. P.S. I agree, bring back the lovely ladies thread, I know it’s still here just hidden!
