Not sure I want to be in a situation where I NEED Ray.
-
Labryan Ray as well, per the link. Keeping the bottom of the roster churning!
-
I would watch Rachaad White and Ethan Pocic. Both have worked with Canales before
-
Why? You think there's a better path than building a core and then adding a real QB rather than the opposite?

BREAKING: Panthers sign QB Kenny Pickett
hepcat replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If they have Pickett have a camp battle against a late round QB they draft for the backup spot, I'm here for it. That's a solid QB room. If they leave it just Bryce, Pickett, and UDFA scrubs like Jack Plummer then there's a legit issue there. -
TheSpecialJuan started following Panthers re-sign OLB Thomas Incoom

BREAKING: Panthers sign QB Kenny Pickett
X-Clown replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pie for the Howell content. The last time he took snaps in the NFL for Seattle, he went 5 of 14 for 24 yards, one INT and took 4 sacks. I don't know why there's this myth out there that he's this undiscovered gem. That said, Pickett is in the same boat of awful but at least we didn't have to trade anything for him. Still, I would have rather given his contract to Marcus Mariota who signed for 500k less to stay in Washington. At least Mariota has looked competent when relied on for a spot start here and there and has more of a veteran presence than someone who has only been in the league one year longer than Bryce has. -
LB Jacob Rodriguez Wants to Come to Carolina
Jon Snow replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is a lot of LB's in this draft but only about 3 I would truly try to target. One of those will go before we pick and one possibly just before or a few picks after our pick. The other is a day 2 pick and probably 8 or 10 picks before we pick again. So we really need to focus on only 2 of them. We may not get any of them to be honest. But I cannot see Dan going through this draft without making an attempt to get one of them. -
SUBSTANTIALLY shorter than Will Campbell. Didn’t know how much until now. I’ll be surprised if he ends up with a real shot at OT anywhere tbh.

BREAKING: Panthers sign QB Kenny Pickett

The front office may think more of KP than Howell. The point wasn't that Howell was some sort of god on the football field. He's had a relatively good season once. That's potential. KP has thrown for 2500 and 2000 in back to back seasons and was benched in 23' That's not good. 13 TDs in 25 games in Pittsburgh as a starter. Howell had 3950/21/21 in a single season. I'm not proclaiming Howell is a franchise saver. I'm saying KP has never once achieved Bryce's best season and now he's his backup. This follows Dalton who was so terrible he should have been let walk last off-season but wasn't, again, no threat to Bryce. Jack Plummer, so bad in his 1st camp the Huddle wanted to chase him out of town, so he's brought back for a 2nd. If you can't recognize the pattern, that's on you. I'm not even saying I want Howell. I'm saying Pickett is so bad he could barely do in 2 years what Howell did in 1. We didn't aggressively make our QB room better. We made it worse. -
I'm sure he could play LG, but Hunt is still here. You save 14 million in salary if you move on from him after 2026 season, but no reason you wouldn't think that Icky would want or command more than that on the open Market so would be a wash to me really.

I think tackle and center are coming in the draft. We are probably going to go into the draft arguing about which Tackle to take with our first only to pass over those options for a random RAS BPA. Tackle in the second. In the mean time, give me Matt Milano and John Metchie. Fill out the roster w some cheap vets.

Jamaree Salyer would be an excellent signing. I hope we are looking at him.

BREAKING: Panthers sign QB Kenny Pickett

The Panthers are Pickett's 5th team in 5 years. Howell's next team will be his 5th. I don't think the league thinks that much of either of them. They're just warm bodies, at this point. -
10 players I wouldn't mind the Panthers signing that are still available: - CB Nate Hobbs (Packers): Was just released this morning. Could be a very solid nickel upgrade for us. - CB Kader Kohou (Dolphins): Solid slot corner who shouldn't break the bank and could be an upgrade over Chau Smith-Wade. - OT Jamaree Salyer (Chargers): Had an underrated year with the Chargers (68.2 PFF pass block grade, 61.5 run block grade) and is still young enough (25) to continue developing. - OT Jawaan Taylor (Chiefs): Depending on price, could be a good short-term option at LT while we figure things out long-term. - WR Jauan Jennings (49ers): If we're going to add a FA receiver, I think Jennings makes a lot of sense but the price may be a bit too high for a slot receiver. - WR John Metchie III (Jets): A cheaper option at slot receiver who has experience playing with Bryce at Alabama. Low risk/high reward type signing. - WR Calvin Austin III (Steelers): Likely an "in between" option relative to Jennings and Metchie, but another solid option in the slot. - LB Leo Chenal (Chiefs): I think we'll target another starting ILB in the draft, but we could also opt to pair Chenal with Devin Lloyd and check that need off the list early. - OC Matt Hennessy (49ers): Could be a decent stop-gap starter at center and solid depth if nothing else. - OC Andre James (Chargers): Was a backup last year for the Chargers (for some reason; he couldn't have been worse than what they had starting) but was solid for the Raiders the year before.

We are so eager to give Tepper credit for doing the absolute bare minimum, essentially thanking him just for staying out of the way and not acting as a dead weight on the franchise. Yet, despite all the criticism, he was never the worst owner in the league by a long shot. That perception mostly lived in the minds of Panthers fans who simply hadn't experienced truly bad ownership before.

I really don't think they are. Obviously they have to say the right things for now.

BREAKING: Panthers sign QB Kenny Pickett

But it is only for a year... I think this is a trial period for Pickett... They are still going to bring in competition... Especially after Morgan publicly stated that they want to get more mobile at the QB position. -
Trading up to get who they want is highly likely given recent history. Id be shocked if they dont. Just dont do it for another shitty receiver or injured running back
