Will 5-6 wins be enough for Canales to keep his job?
TD alt replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think he gets 1 definitely and 1+ if he gets a new QB. On an off note, I think that the bigger question is Ejiro Evero, but I believe even he will likely get another year. -
Glad the D held them to 6 points in the 2nd half, but let's also recognize that the Falcons dropped like 5 passes in the 2nd half/OT. I started rooting for ATL to screw up more than us to make a play on defense because I don't think our D really did that much in the 2nd half

Coker fought hard for yards yesterday... There was one play I hoped for him to get a first down but a lot of that is scheme and where balls are thrown. When an offense isn't stressing opponents deep is there's lots of people to gang tackle intermediate yardages. The problem most of the year with YAC has been how Bryce floats balls. It allows defenders to close. We've seen it time and again... But on the YAC discourse Bryce has pretty much half his yards this season from YAC which is pretty much spot on for the players with the most YAC. He's just thrown for very little because... Well yeah. Happy for him and his performance yesterday. Something to build on for sure

Sure was interesting yesterday. Might have to upgrade to Ritz.
-
Somebody needs to kick him in the shin before every game. Pain seems to concentrate his focus.
-
Its hilarious. I mean they gotta fire somebody after that. To let him come in and do that a second time back to back years is humiliating.
-
At this point, it’s pretty wild to call Bryce’s rookie year a throw away year and wipe it from his resume. It went horrible….in large part…..because of Bryce.

Facts....I dont know where folks are getting this stuff from. If anything Canales dials it back because Bryce starts throwing interceptions when he puts to much on his plate. Why would he not? Turnovers effect winning games. Bryce has a tendency to do too much of that at times. Its all in bryces head. You either get confident Bryce or timid mistake making Bryce.
-
It hardly ever works that way. Had we had Ladd, we may not have even been in a position to draft T-Mac. It is something to ponder though.
-
Philly game gets recalled oddly because of the XL drop…..but it was an all day clinic of bad football by both teams.
-
Bryce's toughness has impressed. He's resilient for sure. Been one of his big strengths even when playing poorly. The combination yesterday was fantastic.

I disagree. T-mac has a long way to go before he surpasses C-mac's value. I'm not saying that he can't do it, but a highly skilled RB that can gain yards in chunks, and can run routes just as well if not better than some receivers is highly valuable indeed. Over time, a receiver might have a couple of more seasons of impactful play due to the nature of their positions, so in that sense a receiver may be more valuable because you eventually get more out of them, but there's an argument that in their prime, the skilled three-down RB that is highly skilled is likely more impactful. I'll give you the point that regular WR1s are more valuable than regular RB1s, particularly with a team legitimately using RBBC, but Gore, Tomlinson, McCaffrey, and many other great backs are simply harder to replace than WR1s. The role that they play is special and specialized.

If only Melo Ball was as tough as BY9.

Official Week 11: Panthers @ Falcons Gameday Thread
ImfromClayton replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm walking away from yesterday extremely pleased with the result, but also quite confused. That was obviously Bryce's best game with us, and I'm not sure its even remotely close. Additionally, he was CLEARLY hobbled by an injury. I thought the Falcons attacked us with pretty much the exact same defensive game plan the saints used. I did think the effort level and intensity our receivers showed was much better this week. I actually thought the o line was about the same as the saints game. I think Chandler Zavala is a talented kid, but he consistently misses assignments and makes mental mistakes. Defensively, our lack of talent is really starting to show up. We need help on that side of the ball badly in the offseason. I don't think Canales is a bad coach, I think he's learning and improving as we go. and In game coaching is absolutely a learned skill. That said, I do think he called a much better game Sunday opposed to last week. I do think Chuba is a better runner against the stacked boxes we've seen the last two weeks. Rico hits the hole so hard, and that's why he has a lot of the success he has, but sometimes, there's no hole, and a more patient runner like Chuba is the more ideal back, especially when teams have 8 and 9 guys in the box. I also think it's ok to have two good running backs with different skillsets as long as you don't allocate too much of the cap to them. At some point, we have to figure out the inconsistencies in the offense and how to address them. It is unconscionable that we looked like that against the saints and falcons in back to back weeks. There is no way to rationalize it. It's so hard to make a determination on Bryce young. -
Bryce to me shouldn’t even be part of a competition. Too much bias and egg on people’s faces. In house dynamics get weird. Bryce isn’t the guy. When that is known….you part with them.

SCO96 started following Bryce Young every time I give up on him
-
I'm not sold on Bryce, but I have to give him his props for yesterdays gutty performance. As to why he plays well against the Falcons (at least on the road for the past 2 years), I wonder if it has something to do with the environment. The Falcons play indoors so he doesn't have to deal with any inclement weather which always benefits a QB with mediocre/subpar arm strength. When he played them in Charlotte earlier this year the highest temperature was 87F (average temp of 76F)

85 SOUTH! Do we yell 85 North when leaving their stadium after a W?
-
We are so Jekyll and Hyde but I love sweeping the falcons!
-
the second time yes
-
unfortunatley I think Arvell Reese will be long gone by the time we pick

Forget trying to draft a QB in the early first round--it's stupid
SOJA replied to MHS831's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
I think we should hope someone like Allar or Nuss falls to like the fourth. Take them and hope the talent develops them into a competent back up/competitive starter. That way if Bryce doesn't work out you have a plan B. If Bryce does you have a valuable trade piece -

I'd like to think he would get another year (maybe 2 if we draft a guy) with a QB of his choice. Unfortunately, I don't think the Panthers are going to move on from Bryce like we hope. If they do keep Bryce, I see DC getting canned midseason next year. -
He had already reinjured the ankle but yeah. Caused a turnover on downs because it happened on 4th and inches too
