Panthers podcast shuts down due to team’s poor performance

I am blown away at how bad we have been with the picks we've made. For all the hand wringing about "getting worked" in trade ups, etc. is small fries in comparison to the absolute trash picks we've made. Hit on even half of the picks and this team is 8-8 or better. Just like in most industries the "fun" parts of the job are always overrun with incompetents (due to favortism and politics) when you have a bad leader. Look at Dallas. Jerry wants so bad to be involved in talent acquisitions that the team eternally sucks. Same for us.

I honestly think the huddle would run this organization better. We would draft better for sure. How is that possible when these guys devote their careers to it?

I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work. And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on." That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury. He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure. The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly. He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut. He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL: There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays? Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times. I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.

Eric Collins Calling First NFL Game (ours)
KSpan replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games. -
Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show

I can see Canales getting a 3rd year if we better our win count from last season. If it’s worse then that’s probably it for him here unless they are going to give him first crack at developing a new quarterback.

I think Canales gets a 3rd year after making a change at DC. -
Tepper didn’t have the wisdom to ban the move up for Bryce. Doesn’t matter what you think about Bryce, who can argue that the move at that cost is defensible at this point? It’s a crippling trickle down affect of no top first rounders under 5 year contracts. We then doubled down with leggette after trading up. We’re spiraling debtors. Of course present staff is willing to trade in futures when, if it fails, they’re not going to be around to weather the consequences anyway.

1 - that's exactly why I said he's a complication... He is causing symptoms... He's not just a symptom. 2 - People keep saying this about Darnold and it isn't entirely accurate. He was pretty good here in the 2nd half of 2022... He washed out because he still isn't a franchises answer at QB, even after an incredible season in Minneapolis. He's ultimately nobody's guy unless they can't do better... And this is coming from a bit fan of Darnold...

Salah with Mike McDaniel as OC with Mac Jones as our bridge QB so Salah can use all the draft capital to build his defense -
The problem started when we let Beane walk instead of promoting him
-
Bryce is definitely part of tbe problem but he’s not THE problem. Think of it this way, Baker and Darnold looked totally washed in this team and found success elsewhere. All the other players that were drafted and released in last few years didn’t. Talent evaluation has been terrible from top to bottom. Tepper’s stink permeates deep into every fiber of the organization

Duke is pulling away now in the 4th qtr. Up 17 with 10 minutes left.

I'm late but UNC has to fire Belicheck. This is worse than any Mack Brown team. He clearly doesn't give a fug and is just scamming them for money. I thought he'd care more of his legacy but I guess he's checked out.
-
If Tepper wasn't the owner I think the rest of the organization would be ready to move on from Bryce immediately.

I still think if you put BY on the 49ers he still sucks. No coaching can mask his physical limitations. I agree that he is not the complete problem. Tepper and all the yes men he surrounds himself with is. BY still sucks tho -
He's not a symptom, he doesn't go away if you get rid of Tepper and not would his play miraculously become worth a first overall pick. He's more like a complication from a disease that requires it's own treatment.
-
They woke up. Sheppard is a hell of a RB. But Cal probably wins this.
-
Mario Cristobal hates leading football games. He may enjoy winning them, but he is intent on giving the other team as many chances as possible to win. It's crazy.

Genuinely livid with this 4Q performance.
