Concerning Avg points per loss byPanthers HCs
PleaseCutStewart replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also, can't say I'm surprised with those numbers. That list of coaches is full of either: 1) very bad coaches or 2) below average coaches that were good coordinators. Outside of John Fox turning the team around those couple of years and Riverboat Ron being on the hot seat and actually growing a pair in 2013, I can't say I have been happy with our HCs since I started following the team closely in 2000. -

I actually do like Vrabel as a coach, but no coach can overcome a severe limitation at QB. In some ways I am starting to wonder if we will ever really know what we have with Canales as long as he is tied to Bryce at QB. -
Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?

Here's Mel's take. It scares me I agree with him on Mateer, but the rest of it is vintage Mel where he's on the hype train with these guys. I'm comforted that he has Mendoza #5. -
Andy.
-
It never made any sense to bring Andy back after last year. He was abysmal outside of the Raiders game. Even if he stays healthy, he's basically just Bryce with extra steps.
-
Even if that all transpired in our favor they still would have found a way to screw it up I'm certain.

Yeah, Vrabel did not make 30 points of difference or anywhere close to it. Once the Tannehill situation ran its course he had two straight losing seasons in Tennessee and got fired. -
Who’s the tallest guy available with the strongest arm? That’s a start

I caution against overestimating Tepper. -
Dalton at this point is basically like late career Cam in that he can come in and look pretty good for a game or two but it just doesn't seem like he's physically up to prolonging that for more than a game or two.
-
You can at least try a screen or a short route and hope the receiver breaks a tackle. A run on 3rd and long every now and then to surprise the defense is acceptable. Running the ball on 3rd and long 80% of the time is moronic

Yeah, the Evero truly seems to be the head coach of the defense. I'm all for giving coordinators plenty of rein to work with but when your HC is practically begging his DC to play some younger guys instead of trash tier vets and the DC pretty much brushes it off that seems like a problem. -
This is what I want as well. Before Dalton went to crap, our offense looked completely different last year. Give me a QB with experience now so that we can properly evaluate our offense. Hell, maybe it would help make XL not look like a complete doofus.
-
Honestly, if he would’ve just got to the point and gave Ron his notice the year he bought, we could have been in a timeline for a legit HC and QB. And could have kept CMC+DJ in tact — the timing of the firing (and of course choosing Rhule) was the beginning of this death spiral with the missed overcorrections. Could’ve outbid GB for LaFleur and the entire sequence of poor decisions is altered.

If you start firing coaches and benching your starting qb you signal the season is over and the purge must begin. That includes trading players for draft picks. -
I can understand the argument for 3rd and 10 but aren’t much u doing on 3rd and 15…. Bryce isn’t gonna air it out he don’t trust his WR’s nor his line so if he airs it out and throws a INT it’s the same as punt.

The franchise needs to reboot and get back to their roots.
ProcessBlue2 replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah whatever we have been doing the last 7 years isn’t working. Go back to what worked before. We need to get back to being mediocre (not sarcasm). Right now we are terrible, non-competitive, and can’t even attract decent free agents. On top of that, we are probably top 3 softest team in the league year after year. I would gladly take a retread DC guy to build the culture up and get us back to the middle of the pack at least. At least then we can attract decent talent and coaching candidates. -

I think everyone knows the HC is only the HC on one side of the ball. This is a huge problem, compounded by the fact that side of the ball he does have is hugely limited. Fire Evero. Drump Bryce. Let Canales have the rest of the season. -

You gotta pinpoint the guy with the right DNA. For example, Steichen, McDonald and Ben Johnson are the types for various reasons that had some clear potential. All fan favorites for our HC job. I think Canales has some of the HC gene, but I just don’t like the approach we’ve team building wise and he didn’t have a ton of experience. So I don’t know how he would be with a bit better talent. But I also haven’t been a fan of his offense thus far. A bit conflicted. The defense is not well constructed (has some promising parts) and the offense has zero identity (with McMillan being a start). So it’s a bit muddy. I think worth seeing how he can rally these guys this season, but if that’s the case, you gotta increase his seat temp and give him the green light to bench/release and bring in who he wants to help improve. Then DT should analyze that the remainder of the season and make the call once it’s over. If embarrassments like this become a trend, then it would be worth canning. -

Scoring averages are higher now than 30 years ago. Should have been clearer. The past 3 years of Bryce have been blowouts. -
I wonder why guys like Nick Scott, DJ Johnson and Rozeboom are even on the team, much less playing significant snaps. Seems like it would take a minuscule amount of effort to find anyone who is better when we are building a roster.

He always gets infatuated with the wrong people. First it was Rhule. He let Rhule scapegoat the actual good up and coming coach in the organization in Brady because Brady was the one guy in the staff who wasn't his guy. Then it was Bryce. We mortgaged the entire franchise on a QB prospect with no NFL measurables. He knee jerk hires the opposite of Rhule in Reich, an offensive minded head coach with tons of NFL experience then builds a staff of the same around him except for the riding star in Evero. Then he forces Evero on the Canales staff and...

I still think we will do the exact same thing as we keep doing, as well. We will can the coach first, hire a new one, then can the GM and hire another with a inherited HC.
