  1. Past hour
  2. He was sharper. It wasn’t all him with the YAC but he wasn’t impeding that like he usually does. If the ball to Legette wasn’t in the end zone, there was a lot of YAC there. Right in stride. At this point my thing is, can he do it when it isn’t Atlanta? He has a horseshoe up his butt with them lately.
  3. I have zero expectations with Brooks taking a productive snap with any NFL team. No 2 operations are the same and everyone heals differently. TD is the incredible exception, not rule. I hope Brooks turns in to gold for us, but it’s a very slim chance. With how Dowdle is sacrificing his body, I wonder how much Dowdle there will be left after this season.
  4. Weren't we saying passing was way down last year too and it trended waaay up the last 8ish games? I feel like this came up in discussions last year too, where some QBs (Burrows comes to mind) exploded from week 10 onward. Burrows was like 250/game until week 10 and then 330/game the rest of the way. I feel like someone pointed out a few other players with similar stats (Josh Allen and Mahomes both follow the trend it seems) I think offenses get more film on what defenses are doing and start to exploit them.
  5. Not feeling great about this matchup defensively and how we stop CMC and Kittle in the pass defense
  6. I thought he hit his ceiling in the Dallas game. Because it was a 4 quarter effort not the more typical suck and then redeem yourself just enough with a decent half or quarter. I think Sunday looked more like his ceiling but the idea is execute what you asked to do without fuging it up. If they need you to make a play, you make the play. Do it for 60 minutes. There have been games Canales needed to hide him as well, and hope we could get through them playing that way.
  7. While the Bucs schedule is definitely easier than ours, they have definitely been reeling of late and Baker seems to have come back down to Earth a bit (largely in part of the injuries). I'll be shocked if they beat the Rams and could see them losing to a Cardinals team I think is better than their record shows. Dolphins game could be a tricky one for them also - they have played pretty well at home. But yeah, they will likely have the division record advantage over us if we split with them because they likely beat NO and ATL. I think we have to get to 10 wins to have any chance of making the playoffs - best chance of doing that is winning NO and SF and then either sweeping Tampa or beating the Seahawks + splitting with Tampa. Now that I look at it, I think our only chance really is sweeping Tampa. That home loss to NO badly hurt our playoff chances...
  8. Brooks would be unquestionably done now if this were 30 years ago. He could possibly still have a career in today’s world. There were So many guys who tore their knees up and that was just… it.
  9. He had 3 TDs against Dallas. If someone's diminishing his contributions in that game, then they have an agenda.
  10. Injuries don’t matter when it comes to the Niners. They are coached and built so damn well. I will say this to some of the other points made in this thread - I do NOT understand why we continue to play the LBs so much. I noticed it as we got later in the Atlanta game when ATL had to pass, I even asked in the game day thread, if you’re 99% sure they’re passing, especially several plays in a row, why tf do we still have Cherelus out there? At the very least put an extra safety out there - someone with better movement and fluidity in space. I understand Ransom was injured and out last week, but I would really like to see us put some packages out there with 4 rushers and Ransom and Richardson as sub LBs. Rozeboom is really just a hustle guy and Cherelus is a hole stomping thumper who is a complete liability in coverage. But, NGL, once Kittle catches it, we’re gonna have hell bringing him down, especially if we go smaller.
  11. At the end of the day, I doubt either are even here in 2 years. Hope they can crush it together the remainder of the season
  12. Bryce also averages close to about 100 more passing yards per game in a dome vs outside. I think this game will play out more like the Saints game, Packers game, etc in terms of what Bryce is able to do. What we need is for Rico to be able to find a whole in a crowded box maybe twice and gash them for big ones
  13. This does feel like Freddie last year. Maybe, ole maybe koochie can be him.
  14. The trend seems to be we play our worst games coming off our biggest wins, so I imagine we're probably getting blown out. But you never know. The 49ers defense is not what it once was. I mean, Jacoby Brissette just set the NFL record for completions in a game against them this past week. Bottom 3rd in the league in pass defense and middle of the pack in run defense. I actually think our best strategy in this game might be to come out aggressive throwing the ball the same way we did against the Falcons. Put TMac in the slot some more, send XL deep and let Coker work the intermediate areas. Put Bryce in the shotgun and go full spread. That seems to be where he is at his best. Let the short passing game function as a de facto run game of sorts, keep the clock moving with short passes and hope we can sustain some long, time-consuming drives.
  15. I don’t care. He’s got bricks for hands and consistently fugs up drives because of it. So does JT Sanders. So does bi-weekly Legette.
  16. At this point, I think Chubba is the odd man out. I hate that, but I think Dowdle gives us more production and big play ability. But there is still a lot of football to play. I think it depends on how much Dowdle will want too.
  17. I’ve been anti-trade when it comes to Melo, but the way this season has started, it may be time. I love his game and he’s a cool dude, but I’m starting to think, if he’s your best player, you’re never going to win anything of significance. Too many brain farts, too many injuries, and ultimately for as fun and entertaining as he is to watch - his game is indeed a thing of beauty - it just doesn’t translate to wins. And that’s IF he even plays. I think it’s time to cash out and maximize the return. I love Melo, but I think it’s pretty clear what the ceiling is for a team where he is the best player.
  18. Every NFL team, college program, hell even HS has numerous "what ifs" that got derailed by injury. It's a brutal sport and half the battle is just getting lucky enough to stay healthy. Doesn't matter how durable you are and how well you take care of your body everyone is one weird hit or awkward twist away from a career derailing injury.
  19. Exactly, this thread is dumb. Diminishing his effort in the Cowboys game even though he made good passes on the final drive. You can make this thread for every quarterback.
  20. The best part is they compliment each other. Chuba is a more patient runner, patiently waiting for gaps to form while Rico is more explosive. I wish they would use Rico more like McCaffery was used - getting him the ball in space to take advantage of his explosivness and violence. Then have Chuba pound the middle for the tough yards.
  21. I loved those late 90s-early 2000s Miami teams. If McGahee hadn’t had that injury, he would probably have been a Top 10 all-time rusher, no doubt in my mind. The fact he didn’t lose his leg below the knee is still a miracle. And the fact he came back from that, made it in the NFL, and still carved out a career that included over 8k yards rushing and two pro bowls is damn impressive. It just demonstrates how good he would have been had he never had the injury. Prior to that, he was like nothing I had ever seen. Like a bigger, more physical and elusive Reggie Bush.
  22. Boozer may end up going higher in the draft, but agree about Caleb Wilson. Give me that dude, think he's going to translate very well and has the attitude I want on a young team. My perfect world as of now... Trade anything not bolted down as far as vet's go. Sexton is on an expiring and would be an easy flip. Bridges, just get him somewhere else. One year left on a low $20 mil deal should be an easy trade...but the apron for many teams could haunt us. LaMelo is the issue. Likely would have to trade our problem to someone else for their problem (Ja, Zion, Zach Lavine) to make contracts somewhat match up. I want to build around last year's draft class, get as many bites at this draft class as possible, etc. If we get lucky and get #1 or #2, wonderful. If not, get into the top 5 or so and grab Caleb Wilson.
  23. Yeah Willis McGahee and that RB from USC come to mind.
