Could do better could do worse. I've seen some people very indignant over bringing him back and I can absolutely relate to the sentiment. But it's just in a backup role. He's also a good locker room presence and an effort player so for a 1 year rental in a year where we aren't going to do much it's fine. This is a development year. And there will be options if need be at the trade deadline. Besides at the end of the day we all knew a signing like this was around the corner after how drafting Mark Williams ended. He should have been our franchise center for the next several years. I don’t put that failure on the Hornets.

No one is upset. And what I referred has been happening. Patrick Mahomes has an offseason basketball clause in his contract. A ton of other physical activites like jet skiing, baseball and all sorts of physical activities are written into his contract. XL likely already has ATVs and stuff written into his contact. League already has been inserting a lot of that stuff into basic contracts for non-top tier players and we have seen it pan out.

A payment for future production, puts him a cane for 9 seasons.

Done deal. 8x 6 M AAV. I like it!

I don't agree with this mentality. I understand the fear of injury situation, but you can't control people's lives like that. You are only worked up because you are seeing it. I imagine countless other athletes are doing risky stuff. This wasn't even that bad. He has a lot to risk too. It's not like he is out there TRYING to get injured and ruin his career. Calm down.

Don't forget Tennessee. I think it's more of a bonus than an advantage. Top talent wasn't clamoring to go to Florida when they were in the cellar, these guys want to go where opportunities to win are. In this instance it was more important to stay together than go for the money. And I don't know how much it balances, but the state still gets their money, its in the form of sales tax vs income tax.
-
XL needs his contract reworked already. Basically that outlaws him from being a country boy going forward.
-
Please dont get injured
-
Stankoven long term extension almost done... Won't kick in until next season.... since he wouldnt be an UFA for anther two years after this one you have to suspect the Canes get it for a bargain.
-
I have a feeling we will land Elhers and swing a big trade in the next few days. I'm glad we didnt get Marner, heck I could see us getting both Besser and Elhers....
-
You mean like the sandwich or Superman?
-
From what I've watched he will fit right in there.
-
I'm with you on this, I just don't see it.
-
1.5M wouldn't be more than the respective tax difference.... it really is one hell of an advantage for Texas,Florida, and Nevada teams.
-
McDavid incoming
-
Does anyone besides me smell something strange coming from the Florida Panthers? Somehow, they've succeeded in keeping 3 guys in Eckblad, Marchand, and Bennett who all would have easily commanded at least $1.5M or more on the open market. Jus' sayin'
-
I mean...he still stick in'ahe

TheBigKat started following XL is out here being a hero!

Looks like I glanced at Delhomme vs Warner attempts back when AZ was sucking so bad. Larry Fitzgerald was bigger and more consistent than 89. God doesn't give everyone the same tools. I mean, if you shrunk Megatron and probably changes in his rank position. 89 was more entertaining. 89 quit on that 2010 team. 89 would often prioritize himself over the team and was a poo teammate (and we as a collective fanbase embrace so many of his demons). You didn't have that w/ Fitz. Same demons that make 89 literally not even run routes and show up for his team because he had to take plays off to "show" Richard Sherman something.......are the same demons that had him assault his teammates often w/ cheap shots. I would assume if most were building a team from scratch and have the option of Fitz vs 89.....Fitz is winning that in a landslide.

Carolina only surpassed ARZ in passing attempts one time in Smith's whole career in Carolina. While ARZ was had several years in the top 10 in attempts, of which Carolina had none. We were a running team. It's a testament to Smitty that he was able to build a HOF with the opportunities he had. I think if he had a stretch of his prime with Peyton, or Brady he would have embarrassed a lot guys. He would have had a shot a 2k yard season. -
I agree, but I still think with all the draft capital Tulsky will pull off trade we never saw coming

100%. I get that being the only latino HC in the league comes with social pressure to set a good example, but I've always felt that Ron's respectability BS did the team a disservice from his stoicism on field to the tie incident to not having much to say about the protests in Charlotte. I think it's a big reason why Jerry Richardson liked Ron.

Where are you finding a 2G better than Freddie?
-
I don’t love Granlund but he’s the only 2C option out there right now. Since we have a ton of cap space I’d give him a bloated two year contract and basically pay Ehlers whatever. I’d also ship KK out for whatever and bring back Kuzy to center the fourth line. If we can move Ghost out and bring in someone like Karlsson then I’d go ahead and do that. I also don’t hate Burns for one more year. It’s a huge no on Orlov though. Rod would have to get over himself and let Chatfield play his off side though. Otherwise you simply can’t bring Burns back because he’s a third pairing guy who needs a speedy guy like Chatfield that can bail him out. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - Granlund - Stankoven Carrier - Staal - Martinook Hall - Kuznetsov - Blake Jankowski - Robinson Slavin - Karlsson Nikishin - Walker Chatfield - Burns Morrow
