You could look at it like I look at XL/Coker. Coker offsets the XL error. Dan got Lloyd 5 mil per year cheaper than people estimated. He got Walker way under the estimates. I don’t think Walker is great but given the situation that was good work. Phillips got paid but collectively we made out pretty okay. 10 mil cheaper on Walker and 15 mil cheaper over the contract for Lloyd. That is 20 (oops 25) mil saved apply it to Phillips and you get him for 25 per year x 4. The inferior (we think) guy from the Chargers got 4x25.

I'll wait till some actual games are played before I crown anyone. Winners of fa hardly win. But the positions of need were all addressed with quality. We are free to grab whoever in the draft. True and some blue chipper will fall bc of medical. Happens every year! I have a hunch that Caleb Downs may fall more than ppl think. Too many ppl blew away the combine with 1st round grades. We could jump on that or definitely an oline player.

Our Oline coach is well respected and I guarantee that helps in more ways than one... Walker is trying to setup for a decent payday and this is a perfect situation to do just that. Rather he takes the spot here or elsewhere!

I have watched the Panthers O.L. Get abused until the recent upgrades. I understand wanting receivers, but I hope we plan for the future regarding our offensive line and the draft. We had a lot of games missed last year by O.L. Injuries.

That big DT from Ohio State is the way I think we go since Banks is made of tissue paper. This team wants to stop the run first and foremost

The last time the panthers were hailed as free agent hero’s we hauled in… Mike wahle and Ken Lucas not saying this will be the same but nothings a sure thing. High paying free agents bust A LOT. Gotta hope everything comes together correctly

I've seen Freeling, Mauigoa, Miller, & Fano projected before 19 in almost every mock. I watched Will Campbell get absolutely abused all season as the #4 overall pick. Offensive Tackle is a position where the best Tackle in the draft is not much further ahead than the 20th Tackle in the draft. Coaching and scheme can account for a lot at that position. The same is not true for skill positions like WR, RB and TE. The best player at those positions is infinitely better than the 20th player at those positions (in most cases). Draft accordingly.

Evero already said Lloyd was green dot. It was mentioned numerous times in the recent Blurprint video release

I agree it is very exciting! Tough to imagine them being more impactful than Jake Delhomme, Stephen Davis, and Ricky Proehl but I hope they are!!

They were key additions but weren't young top free agents.

DG had a good one in 2015 too. Oher, Ginn, Coleman, Tillman. Then traded for sunsetting Jared Allen.

I would be all for taking a Safety that high because I believe with an intelligent DC a roaming Safety (whatever name you want to call it) can completely change the ways you can attack and neutralize an Offensive gameplan. See Nick Emmanwori effects on Seattle back end defense scheme most recently. Unfortunately I don't have that much faith with our current defensive coaching staff to get that type of immediate return and effectiveness out of that position and in return wasting that kind of draft capital. We wouldn't get the most out of a 1st Rd Safety compared to a OT, IOL, TE, ILB, DL or EDGE with our current coaching staff in my opinion. So i doubt we go this route but I wouldn't hate it.

I like it cause when he hit people they go backwards . Coverage suspect but he def deserve more looks as a back up
