BREAKING: Panthers interested in Justin Simmons
Bear Hands replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We may sniff around some safeties but wouldn't be surprised if we don't end up getting one of these guys like Blackmon/Simmons/etc. If we still haven't popped, we should wait and see who ends up available come preseason. Overall, it's not a position I'm super concerned about/low priority. I wouldn't mind seeing how the young guys look. Falcons and us swapping FSs would be meh. (They've got Fuller now) and don't think it serves us well getting a 32 y/o to plop in for a season. Develop. -

Just thinking about the teams that drafted ahead of us…the Raiders improved a lot by adding Geno Smith and Ashton Jeanty, it’s probably reasonable to expect a big jump from them so I can see that one. But I think he also has the Giants ranked ahead of us? That one doesn’t make much sense to me. I don’t feel like the Jags got a lot better either but seems like every year with Trevor Lawrence they get projected as a playoff team preseason and it doesn’t come to fruition. The Patriots? Don’t get that one and he even has us as an underdog to them I think in week 4. That’s crazy to me. And then there’s teams that finished with better records but downward trajectories like the Colts, Cards, Dolphins. I’m ready to pull this guy’s fan card lol. -
Sure, why not add another high-priced player who disappears in the post season. He'll fit right in! I'll take Mikael Granlund at C and Nikolaj Ehlers at LW, thanks.

I think they are happy with Jewell and Wallace starting this season. Have Rozeboom as a vet for depth. I agree though, after last year that group needs strong depth. - Today

Wish they were also looking at a linebacker to compete / backup that group too. -

This teams is the biggest question mark I have seen in a long time. Could make for a fun season…or pain. -

Tbh I don't know how the other bottom feeders upgraded their rosters to say for sure but 28 feels low, unless you think that stretch end of season was smoke and mirrors. We do need some young guys to step up, but we also just need some injuries to return to form (pretty expected) and FA acquisitions to play to their level last year (pretty reasonable) and at least on D we will be massively improved... -

The interest in Ramsey, now Simmons, and reaching out to Blackmon before the draft makes me feel like our secondary isn't complete yet. -

But wasn’t that the same thing with Fuller? And he was terrible. I feel like we have brought in a lot of guys because of Evero’s familiarity with them and it hasn’t helped at all. Idk why Evero gets such a pass. The Saints scored on every.single.drive week 1 when we were still healthy and had Brown. The Broncos defense got better after he left. When will he stop getting a pass for “not having players” and start getting hammered for not developing players or getting the best out of the players he has? -

Carolina Going to the Super Bowl This Season

Very astute of you! For any that need help with the irrefutable math: AR followed Farves' path exactly ... except that the very last step was altered. Thus, obviously, the very last step in our path will of course be altered to a Super Bowl win. -

I'd rather hear this rumor than some of the crazy ones I've seen over the past month or so. I like the idea of Simmons just because he has history with Evero. Less of a learning curve. AND we could use another veteran safety. -

What does this mean for Julian Blackmon? That seemed like the better option. -
Sorry about the kitty, man. That really sucks.

Yeah, I think counting on a rookie 4th rounder to start would be a big mistake. Bring in a vet stopgap and if the rookie is ahead of schedule, great. But don't force it. -
Full and complete disclosure Family cat got real sick over the last 48 hours, emergency vet visit from last night is looking like lung cancer (which is really bad for cats as it usually means it metastasized from elsewhere), appointment with our decades long vet in the morning You guys have seen me arguing when I'm not in a really dark place, while I still believe what I've been saying tonight, yea, it was just the wrong night to get into any kind of disagreement with me right now. Sorry

Bingo I like Ransom a lot but I’d rather not go into the season with a rookie being the last line of defense. Found this online and now I might be ok with the rook being the last line lol. As for Justin Simmons: • 59.9 PFF grade • 53.8 run defense grade, 60.8 coverage grade • 19.8% missed tackle rate He’s more so just a name at this stage. The tackling issues really scare me. https://x.com/TheJetPress/status/1898842639996514705 -
No sense getting this worked up before training camp geez. There will be plenty to argue about then.

Most of his career has been spent with Denver. Last year with the Falcons. Played 16 games. 58 tackles, 32 solo, 26 assist, 9 passes defended, 2 interceptions. 6'2", but is 31 years old. Did not show up in PFF top 32 safeties. I just gave myself a crash course, so I thought I would share. -
Good grief LOL

How am I all over the place? I'm still saying that. I'm saying that Chark at his best and T-Mac right now, on the same team right now for the 2025 season, T-Mac would be ahead of him on the depth chart Week 1. Because in the same way everyone is saying, "T-Mac hasn't played a snap in the NFL yet", the very same is true to say, "nothing Chark did in his past matters moving forward" His peak was a 1,008 yard season where he was the only decent WR on a terrible team. He didn't put up the 1k yard season because he was a great WR, it was because of how bad the rest of them on the team were. His stats aren't the same as his ability, and his ability was never all that good to begin with. Hell, most of this board agrees that T-Mac is our #1 right now, even if Thielen is Bryce's #1 option early in the saeson just because of the comfort level there, he's still just a slot safety valve and T-Mac is our #1. If you put peak Chark on the roster RIGHT NOW (even without T-Mac)... is anyone even putting him over Thielen, XL, or Coker going into this season? I'm honestly not sure many of us would consider him as such, because even at his best, he was just a JAG. So if the same people who are okay with T-Mac being ahead of those guys right now, wouldn't put Chark above them, how can you in the same breath say Chark was better than T-Mac already is now?
