I'm liking the guys in our zip code after the All-Star games and Combine. Initially I was in favor of a trade back, but several dudes have climbed the board.

When are you guys going to learn the the Panthers draft board is nothing like any draft board you are using. They are drafting the best player left on their board. Every team does the same thing. Thats why the so called draft gurus like DJ and Mel never get anything right.

I mean, the most important position on the roster is our biggest limitation currently.

Defensive Tackle: The Need that Shall Not be Named
Jon Snow replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm right there with you. I'm also afraid of the Panthers not taking either even if the Vikings were to pass on both. -
Apparently he’s a very good culture guy according to scouts and turns 21 in September. I’m assuming the gamble is he has a high ceiling.

I am worried about the Vikings picking in front of us. They could take the best DL or the Oregon safety at 18. Those appear to be needs for them too. -

Panthers met with Faulk at the Combine, so don’t rule him out at 19. -

Isaiah Simmons: "A riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma"

I agree. Some situations are all we should ask--shadow the qb (someone suggested that) or cover a TE, or blitz from the big nickel position. Forget S, edge, CB,LB-- -
Isaiah Simmons: "A riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma"
MHS831 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I work with social emotional learning and I don't know why a player with all the tools (to Snow's point) sucks when he was a top 10 player in college. It is not talent, and it is usually not due to some learning disability-. It comes down to dispositions or emotions in a lot of cases. The reason I pointed out Simmons in particular is because he was drafted to be a DC's new weapon. I have friends who played in the NFL and they talk about the amount they throw at you--and those were guys who played 1 position. Simmons shows his ability on special teams--where you are a bit more turned loose than scripted or forced to read blocking schemes or pass routes, etc. See ball, get ball. Simmons has been tried at CB, nickel, S , LB edge and he has had 5 different coordinators if you do not count the STs guy. This would overwhelm most people. Nobody knows what it does to your confidence and motivation to go from the best player on your team and a top college player to getting cut. I just think that players like this can be saved. To say, "He just isn't good" is not to answer the question, "Why was this not noticed during the interviews? game film? Combine? References? etc. No, there has to be something more to it than that. I think Isaiah needs one job and that job should be aligned with a strength. If he fails then, fine. Maybe he lost his mojo. Maybe he never had it. But to understand what he has been through is to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. If you played in high school, you got a happy meal version of what it is like in college. College was an appetizer when compared to pros. We shall see. But I am more optimistic about Simmons than I am XL. Simmons was asked to things most NFL players cannot do. XL just needs to catch the damn ball in bounds. Middle schoolers do it every day. -
This was a super interesting analysis....and I will say I dont think it prevents us from looking at Safety in the draft. IF Ransom takes a step up and outplays Moehrig, there is an out for them after the year as a potential cap cut. EVEN if not, if you are right and Simmons shows some promise as a Big nickel and Moehrig gets injured and Ransom looks good (or even if Moehrig looks bad) I could see him being a cap casualty in 2027 as long as we feel we have enough talent there as starting potential. Lotta football to play and Lotta injuries to happen. Im hopeful because his measurables are through the roof, but unless they translate you still gotta go with what you got.

BREAKING: Panthers re-signing Nick Scott
Achilles replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He’s a leader on this defense. Sometimes you need a guy because he makes those around him better. Talent wise he is a career backup but he’s part of the fabric of this d that’s already gelled. If you bring in all these new pieces without some of the established leadership you have a lack of focus. This is a good signing. -

csx replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's just not a great football player given his measurables. He's become a good special teams player so he must have gotten over the contact issue. I suppose he doesn't have the will or the aptitude to excel with the X's and O's -
BREAKING: Panthers re-signing Nick Scott

True. Hell one could somewhat argue that by the end of the season, Jaycee was the worst db on the field. -
We aren't drafting a QB in round 1 so just accept it and save yourself a lot of stress.

A little worried about Skenes being unhittable, but too many bats to not play the over ...

Carolina was 4-2 against the East Bracket this year. Praying they will be a 6 seed in Oklahoma City so I can drive up. Give us Miami (OH), so we can shut up all this 31-0 talk. -

Tommy Tremble should be the starter, TJ is just some guy that had flashes his 1st yr before injurys slowed him down. Evans is a blocking TE that can slip out at 2 OT or DL look to be the best outcome for BPA and need if right guy is there
-
I had a feeling that would end up being the case. Probably a short term deal. Once the next one expires Philly will likely move on. Goedert is still in his prime, productive and on a playoff caliber team. It made sense for both sides. Him coming here was a pipe dream. *sigh* Oh, well...

BREAKING!!! Panthers signing Packers LT Rasheed Walker
ForJimmy replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Project players are for the later rounds. These are the ones that are nice to gamble on. Not a first round pick like XL… -
The Panthers will never show their true direction.

Worth noting that the one QB on this list is 6'4, 220. Dan: it's a big man's game.
