Top 5 draft targets for positions of need
strato replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it is safest just to stay away from small school guys the first two days of the draft. Rashard Anderson. Butler. (there are others, just too lazy to document) I know, Jerry Rice. A bunch of guys back in the day from Grambling. Still, take them later. Not early. -
Not sure. But, take long snapper and backup QB off and maybe Moore out of the WRs and we are probably a half year younger. Plus if it is an older data group Thielen might even be in it. I think it is almost quicker to pick out the over 30, 31, players than the real young ones. A bunch of young starters. Not to argue, I started out just to joke about how old our long snapper was. Then I started considering it.

I just want to know where they got whatever they were smoking when they made this decision. For research purposes.

Rozeboom and Chanel: Our ILB free agent wish list?
rodeo replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Roseboom would be a good re-sign, he can teach Bryce how to slide since that's the position Rozeboom usually ends up when he tries to tackle -
For me, no issue going WR - as long as he can tackle when we move him to MLB

Top 5 draft targets for positions of need
LinvilleGorge replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
He was pretty highly touted that year by all the draftniks. But he's one of those small school guys who you do have to pay attention to his workout numbers since he was playing against lower level competition. All his draft hype was about his great athleticism and potential, then he went to the Combine and posted very pedestrian measurable. 5.33 40 time, 29.5" vertical, 26 reps on the bench. Overall he had the 19th ranked athleticism score among DTs that year. No one would've been complaining in hindsight about drafting a DT had we drafted Chris Jones who was picked 8 spots after we drafted Butler. -
Daniel Jeremiah 2026 NFL mock draft 1.0

We have one of the best young WR duos in the league with TMac and Coker. Could use a solid vet #3 option, but that's not terribly hard to find. You could make the argument that every other part of the roster needs long term upgrades before WR. OT - Icky injured, Moton aging, big question mark moving forward here Interior OLine - OG is great but center position is a big question mark, with injuries stacking up on Corbett and BC, and Mays being a free agent (could definitely change though if we re-sign Mays) RB - Dowdle most certainly gone, not suggesting spending a 1st on RB but still, need a replacement here TE - Meh overall, basically have three guys who are backup #2 level TEs, could use a top end starter QB - lol LBer - horrible group, definitely needs upgrades Secondary - Mike Jackson could be playing himself out of our price range and 100% could use a new FS Edge - Scourton looks promising long term but need more here in this unit, obvious weak spot DT - Brown is a beast, but outside of him very thin WR is the ONE position on the entire roster where we're actually looking great moving forward lol TLDR --> this mock is retarded -

Obviously BPA is not 100% bulletproof. Even professional card counters still lose at times. Over a long duration though, it’ll give you better draft classes. Butler was only Gettleman’s BPA. Noone else had him rated that high. -
The dumbest part about the pro bowl is it affects compensation and hall of fame credentials

If you knew he would be Jefferson/JSN level, of course you take him. -
Damn. BY actually deserved that more than him. I know he’s AFC but still
-
I'm pretty sure if they planned all this that far ahead of time they wouldn't put it on a poster.
-
who was the poster on here screaming that we are one of the youngest teams in the nfl when in reality we are ranked like 15th at 26 years old?

“Very muscular” -
That was a thing at one time. Unsurprisingly, it did not attract any more attention, and the league abandoned it. Kinda like NASCAR changing their postseason rules every year, yet no one cares
-
Don’t they do a draft now like it’s not even by conference anymore

I’m 5’11 and very muscular. I am 190. No way in hell is Bryce 205. I’ve seen him in person and it reminded me of this pic lol some bs going on on those metric stats for sure. -
What, the trade we made for Jackson? Congratulations on really sticking your neck out lol.

Yeah probably. Not sure it is realistic, or not really risky. I mean we are counting on Bryce to unlock him. I have such a negative view of it that I think every guy we have at WR would do better with another QB. Except Thielen. -

And they shouldn’t. You can’t tell me that a number of teams would not have had Bryce on their board strictly because of his physical stature. For sure not for day 1. It is a big man’s game. As they say. I never took him seriously as a possibility until the team forced me to. Bryce has at times, a couple or three, done better than I ever thought he would. He hasn’t sustained it though. Because it’s fuging hard. He did a very good job in the playoffs against the Rams. But that was actually what told me they probably were not gonna win that game yesterday. What did he do against Seattle? Rams just aren’t that strong defensively. As far as small guys I do think a Smitty lite is what this offense could really use. I dare not hope for a 1 to 1 Smitty comp, we couldn’t get that lucky, but someone in his mold would really complement this WR bunch.
