It was the return for the value of the player. If someone came and offered me $20k over the blue book value of my car, even though I don't have another vehicle at the moment, it's worth the short term pain to realize that long term gain. It was just dumb to reject such a great value for a single player.

I’ll watch games to see Tet rack up wins for my fantasy team, but that’s about it. Maybe 4 wins just based off of his dominance. Coker coming back will be big.
-
Will we actually be favored in any match-ups this season?
-
5 wins? With Bryce at QB, this defense, and already down two starting OL? Man, I don't think we can beat anybody in the league unless they hand us the game.
-
I still believe in Dan.
-
Being honest, if we can't get a win by the Miami game, there's the Jets and then final week vs. the Bucs (If they're resting starters) Given there's always surprises, I think we're looking at 3-14/4-13
-
When it matters, either early in a game, late in a game when we have a chance, or before we're mathematically eliminated, he simply can't play.
-
Have you seen the guys he drafted last year?
-
Everyone that's been hired has been puppets to Tepper, well at least so far.
-
facebook panther fans irritate me on byoung opinions they obviously do not watch the games. u go on any comments on facebook and its always oline wr rb everyone else but bryce. at least this message board has realized the truth

Is Hendon Hooker that bad he can't get a shot??
fanpanther replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
yes he is that bad. his preseason was maybe the worse in the league. he has looked worse than bryce anytime he has touched the field in the nfl -
So I had a night to sleep, read about some of the other games, and reflect on what I saw. The first half was just horrific by the Panthers. Heck, I was ready to call it quits completely. The second half was a MUCH better team. The problem was we were down 20-3. That's not a good way to try to get a win. But I will give the Panthers credit for clawing back. Look, it was closer than it should have been. The Panthers have to STOP giving other teams turnovers. Bryce - He did have some really great throws today. He also had two fumbles and a pick. On top of the four from week 1... Dude, this is not acceptable. Bryce is still up and down. Part of it is definitely him. Part of it is the coaching and scheme. The fact there were almost zero plays where they moved the pocket didn't help him at all. Dave - C'mon discount youth pastor. He talks a word salad to avoid throwing his players under the bus. I can appreciate that. But in the meeting room, you have to sit folks down. You also need to call better plays. The last drive was a completely doable drive. Instead, we had the world longest dead drive. We had ONE play out of (20? it felt like 20) that gained yards. What's going on there??? You're supposed to make teams defend every blade of grass, but the entire game was pretty predictable. EJ - I'll give him a few props for breaking the 200 yard rushing streak, and generally holding AZ in check. BUT his D let the Cards march down the end the first half and start the 2nd. For fugs sake - figure it out! Your job is to put these dudes in places to be successful. T-Mac - You are a beautiful Hawaiian god! He's a f'n DUDE! He really had a fantastic game. Much love for T-Mac. XL - Do you need to go eat some raw racoon or something? I know he's enjoying his bumpkin bit, but it's only going to work so long as he is a decent player. Where's the summer XL who was mentioned as a breakout candidate? Have some pride and go get the ball. This is still not a good team. We have some good players sprinkled out there, but we lack talent in a lot of areas. We have to play perfectly to be able to win, which is not sustainable. The coaches need to figure it out.

I mean, it's easy to say, "Morgan was Fitterer's right hand man, so he agreed with all the mistakes Fitterer made." Life and managerial structures don't necessarily work that way. GMs aren't perfect, and there are going to be hits and misses most every draft. Most would say that if you can get a couple of starters in a draft that you're doing pretty good. Even if X busts, there are still people in that draft, and an undrafted free agent, that look promising. JT looked pretty good yesterday. Calculate in the 2025 draft, which I think is fair, and I'm not going to complain. Where I think Dan has not gotten it right is overpaying a couple of free agents. and, sorry, I don't accept the "Panthers tax" argument because there is modest overpaying and gross overpaying. I'm very much more critical of Dave Canales. He has to develop the talent that he is given. He also is responsible for his staff and personnel decision is on game days. I'm glad that he saw fit to get JT more involved yesterday. He gets zero credit for Hunter Renfrow, as should've never fired him in the first place, only to rehire him due to injury. But Dan, I'd give another couple of years.

Learn to laugh more. The inevitable is on its way and if that was a high point for those people the there is lots more laughter ahead.

Is Hendon Hooker that bad he can't get a shot??
LinvilleGorge replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
What are you expecting or hoping to see out of Bryce? Yesterday absolutely killed any sliver of hope I was hanging onto. When we recovered that onside kick I was thinking, okay here's his chance. He's been having a really good second half while the opposing D has been playing soft protecting a big lead, his confidence had to be brimming, so let's see it. Here's his chance to actually show us something in a meaningful situation with a chance to go to 1-1 vs. 0-2. That's a massive difference. Historically speaking, your odds of making the playoffs are about 44% at 1-1. They plummet to 12% at 0-2. At 1-1 your season is very much alive and you're in the fight. At 0-2 you're already in panic mode because if you drop to 0-3 now you have a 3% chance at the playoffs statistically speaking. Your season is practically over before a leaf has changed. Anyway, I got sidetracked... so, Bryce takes the field with a legit opportunity for a meaningful game winning drive while playing well and what happens? He IMMEDIATELY reverts back to looking terrible. Looking timid. Looking unsure. Taking bad sacks. Missing throws badly. The refs threw flag after flag after flag giving us second and third chances and he just couldn't do anything with it. I've seen enough. I'm all the way out. This dude ain't it and those last two minutes proved it for me. Bryce seems like a legitimately good guy. A guy you'd be happy with your daughter dating. But he ain't an NFL QB. -
Nope.... his draft picks are sound. You cant judge until we get a decent QB1. Bryce isnt it......... being elite in GARBAGE TIME isnt a thing.

What do you suggest we make threads on? We have the worst record in the NFL since Tepper bought the team and this staff and a majority of these players will be gone next season.

SCO96 started following You Done with Morgan Yet?

Too much is made about the trade that never was. At that time Burns was the ONLY legit pass rusher we had on the team. If you had got rid of him you who was going to supply the pass rush? I think at that time he was viewed as cornerstone of the team going forward. Even now he's still only 27. And, we still have not added a pass rusher to replace him. I would have made more sense to try get get them to take Derrick Brown. Burns has more sacks in a season than Brown has had in 5 seasons. Those picks would have been in different years so we would have only had one extra pick in each year. And, let's be honest. You see how this team has drafted over the years. We used #1 picks in Bryce Young and XL. Do you really think those picks would have made a difference on this team?

Been done. Very limited upside. Most of his positives are based in nostalgia. It was always going to be a rough ride for whoever signed up for it considering the situation.
-
Maybe, maybe not. If they said from day one that they were not sold on Bryce then the hirings may have been conditional on giving it a shot anyway given the investment. Lot of football yet to play this season but if things continue to go poorly and Bryce continues to appear subpar, then would not surprise me to see Morgan and/or Canales stay and the QB position be overhauled (yet again). For clarity, I think Tepper's ownership approach has been nothing but abysmal. Avoidable obvious mistake after avoidable obvious mistake. I have no confidence in any move he or the team makes at this point, simply pointing out a possible scenario.

I was very skeptical of Dan when he was promoted, and all my fears are coming true. I suspect Dan was hired because: 1) Good candidates declined interviews. 2) He was the only candidate who was excited about Bryce and doing everything possible to prove he was a good pick.
