  1. Past hour
  2. No amount of sitting or aging is going to fix Bryce's lack of physical ability. This was the concern about Bryce. The plus side was that he was supposed to be super NFL ready. The downside was that his ceiling was relatively limited and that he might already be about as good as he's ever going to get. And now we have Panthers fans trying to pretend like he was some type of project.
  3. and they don’t get paid and teams don’t keep playing them. They bounce around rosters as depth…..
  4. Then if he needs time to grow up and he is going to sign an extension in needs to be a 3 year, 20m AAV. He doesn't deserve to get paid like a top 10 QB right now because he's not. Daniel Jones is getting 14m and is playing top notch football. He may have had some better games, but his mechanics and footwork are still terrible when he feels any pressure, real or not. When he feels good, he steps into his throws like he should. When he doesn't, it's that body squared up or jumping arm toss or tip toe lob. His fumbling is a huge problem. He cant run QB sneaks. He cant really play from under center because his drop backs are terrible and he needs to be far back to get enough gapping to see the field. That's not top 10 QB contract worthy. And let's not pretend that Bryce is some victim in all of this. Remember him packing on 20 lbs before the combine for the weigh in and walking around in a hoodie the entire time or practicing that S2 test that no one has mentioned before or since so he'd have better results, or riding that hype train like the wheels weren't ever going to fall off. Stroud got roasted and torn apart because of a "leaked" S2 result. He was being portrayed as an idiot while Bryce was being portrayed as a savant. All Stroud ever said was watch me play football. He proved his point. Bryce did everything he could to make himself the number 1 overall pick and when that happens, guess where you're going? To a bad team, likely with a new coach and it's probably going to be full of dysfunction especially if the owner is Dave Tepper. But the real dysfunction came because Bryce wasn't Reich's choice for QB. He wanted Stroud because Stroud fit the type of offense he ran better than Bryce ever could. That's why he lost interest as soon as he was drafted. He was forced to play Bryce when it was obvious he wasn't ready to show off Tepper's shiny new draft pick. No HC is going to come to a team when he gets no choice over who he has as a QB to build around and he has to reinvent the wheel when the easiest thing to do was just buy the wheel that fit to begin with. Tepper lied to Reich all the way up until draft day, then he made that pick. Then Reich checked out, and i don't blame him one bit. And I'll be clear, I didn't want Reich. I wanted Steichen because of what he's doing in Indy or Ryans because I thought he would make one hell of a leader and HC. Reich was a HC with no control over his own team. I put the majority of what's gone wrong involving Bryce on Tepper. The trade gave up too much in picks and DJ to build around him, we had a horrid GM who couldn't draft or build a roster, a QB forced to play before he's ready, an owner that thinks he knows more than football people. There's a lot of moving pieces in all of this, but we cant pay Bryce 50m AAV at the end of this season while he figures it out, and the 5th year doesnt make sense either if we're a run heavy offense with Bryce as game manager. You dont need a 30m, 5th year option QB for that. If he's not there developmentally, he's not there. Unfortunately, there isnt time to just calm down. He plays like a game manager this year and we have to move on. You dont give game managers huge contracts behind the highest paid oline in football, especially when you need to sign your LT. Any journeyman can give us Bryce level results for 15m less per year. Just the way it is. If there was more time, maybe. Unfortunately there isn't. Just the way it is.
  5. We’ve had opportunities to take 2 of the top 5 Cs in the game and instead we took TMJ and Johnathan Brooks. Our drafts since 2017 have been 1 player per draft and then huge misses on lots of really good NFL players (who the huddle have talk about in the draft threads). It’s been mentioned here so many times to draft more OL once you get to the 2nd and beyond since C/G talent is top tier in day 2 and lots of surprise day 3 guys. Taking Brooks over Frazier just looks worse and worse as our OL helps Chuba and Rico look great and Frazier would be a large improvement over Mays.
  6. You’re right, now. He certainly doesn’t look even as good as he did last year
  7. You cant be concerned with cost of the trade anymore. That deal is done and has been done.
  8. Today
  9. Pass blocking is a really hard stat to correlate into real world. There are some parts of it that are incredibly dependent on things well beyond the linemen. Play calling can affect it, receivers route running, chipping from backs, QB awareness and mobility, strength of play action, adjustment calls at the line. And those are all things we're still working on here. I also think we are getting closer to the right recipe for our O-line. I think Cade Mays at Center is the right move. BC at guard seems to be working out. And I really need to see Moton back in this line up to see if we are showing overall improvement. We aren't there yet, obviously, but something is beginning to gel.
  10. Patrick sat a year and had Andy Reid and a hall of fame TE. What has Bryce had? He got nothing but dysfunction his first year. Had a short leash his second year but bounced back and played like a top 10 QB down the stretch. He’s been up and down this year but overall pretty solid. Dave himself is learning on the job, so is the OC, so is the #1 WR, Bryce is younger than Bo Nix. Just calm down he and we will be fine. Just a young squad that needs time to grow up.
  11. Yall are going to hate life when big money Bryce signs that extension. Why not go find a new team now?
  12. Tonight is the night Ehlers gets on the score sheet! Let’s go get 5 in row!
  13. Crazy to say this but.... the rags are no longer a concern for the Canes.... they wont make the playoffs.... and the machine that is the Carolina Hurricanes just keeps rolling
  14. We're playing backs at key spots s ross half games so far....inconsistent pass pro is gonna be hard to overcome.
  15. Didnt watch the video, but I agree Bryce is 100% a complimentary piece right now. No argument there. But to be fair, there are only a handful of QBs that aren't. Lamar. Pat. Josh. Maybe Stafford. Herbert. Maybe Dak? Though not sure how good he would have looked last week without Pickens. A franchise QB can be a complimentary piece.
  16. The hubris in those early quotes is insane in hindsight. It's Matt Rhule level cringeworthy.
  17. If there isn't even incremental progression over the course of this season, much less next season, I am just not sure how you roll with him in year 5. But, $30 mil(est) is not an insignificant amount albeit fairly modest by elite QB price tag standards. The biggest issue with all this, as someone astutely pointed out in the thread previously, is that we have to make that 5th year decision this coming offseason. So if we get the projected season he is on track for(3250 yds passing, 165 yds rushing, 31 total TD's, 22 total TO's). Is that gonna be enough to satisfy everyone he is on the rise? Let's say that we even finish within spitting distance of .500?
  18. Tepper still thinks Bryce can grow into another Tom Brady. You can't make this sh#t up. In other words, the remaining Bryce fanboys have as much football acumen as Tepper. You're judged by the company you keep.
  19. No, I mean even that comparison this far in is kind of insulting to LaFell. He was just a better overall player at this point in their careers. The thing thaf is concerning is that he appears to not be struggling with a 1st or 2nd round WR typical issues, he seems to be struggling with an undrafted free agent or practice squad player level issues. How to even become an NFL caliber player and how to raise your play to the level to be on an NFL roster. It's the simplest stuff that he isn't seemingly capable of doing.
  20. 30 mill for a year of qb play that almost any fa qb could give the panthers seems like a waste of money but its not my money.
  21. I find it all a little bit unreal that the 33rd NFL team is coming up short against the likes of Cal.
  22. I guess I worded that wrong, I think he can become a LaFell type WR. He obviously isn’t there yet.
  23. I have since dropped Legette, Sanders, and DB, but I'm still rolling. I had sense enough to draft Chuba's handcuff, but now my workhorse theory is in disarray. But, to keep it real, Canales has had it in disarray from the beginning. I don't know who to start, so I guess I'll go with "the hot hand." I'm at the top of the hill right now though. Dowdle has been a godsend. Bourne was simply a smart strategic pick-up. I traded for Rice weeks ago (for Dak), and his suspension is over, and Christian Watson should be coming off IR soon.
  24. I'm starting him...but I'm in a 12-team league with two TE spots. The TE situation in fantasy is underwhelming. It's basically a wasteland.
