Yeah.. its amazing how people get all worked up about contracts here.. like its "the next man up" in terms of mega contracts.. teams have already proven that its not hard to work around big contracts. I often come here thinking that this is the place for good football talk but often realize that most people that post here know little to nothing about how football and the operations of football actually work. SMH

Bryce Young was drafted number 1 overall and a much heralded pick from college and those credentials have carried him up to this point with fans and media to some extent. If UDFA Jake Delhomme had played like Bryce has you wouldn’t remember his name. I like Bryce the person and gave him a lot of time as a fan of the panthers but he is not it. Time to overlook sunk cost and move on.

Fitz is owed almost $19 million in his final year, 2026. That’s due to the Steelers and Dolphins past restructuring. I think his dead cap hit this offseason is almost $13 million. That’s a lot of cap space used up on a journeyman 29 year old safety.

"Bryce has won..." Good grief. We are 30th in the league in pass yards per game and 5th in rushing yardage per game. Meanwhile, Bryce is tied for the third most turnovers in the league despite missing a game while putting up these pathetic numbers. Bryce is getting carried. We are winning despite Bryce not because of him. It is what it is.

Since the season started? mythos would be anything that describes him as “just winning games” or coming on in the fourth quarter or talking about “game winning drives” or whatever. I think there will be some vets become available this offseason that I would consider bringing in to compete. Mac Jones Kyler Murray Kenny Pickett Tua Mariota We are not drafting a QB in the first 2 rounds.. we also have BY somewhat cheap still.. so our BEST option is to bring in people and have them fight it out in a true competition..

The last thing I will say, because I'm not going down this Bryce Young rabbit hole again, especially with said poster: You guys aren't the only people who see what you see. Stop focusing on small minority of fans and voices. The media has accepted Bryce Young isn't anything more than a game-manager at best. You can literally look up "Bryce Young Franchise QB" and the only thing that pops up is that the Panthers MAY be viewing him as one, but no media outlet supports it. The vast majority of fans accept he won't ever be the guy. It is such a stupid conversation for this reason. You guys get so tripped up over such a small minority. Bryce Young SUCKS. We get it. And feel free to continue to converse about it. It is a discussion forum. Have at it. But can we just stop using words like "retard" to describe people who might not want to go as far as you all do? Or acting like you have some unique ability to see things in the game that others can't? There is no "mythos" around Bryce Young except in your head. And sometimes it helps to get off the internet. I don't think there is any Panthers fan I have met in IRL that pounds the table for Bryce Young the way some of ya'll suggest they do. And because of my job and how often I go to the games, I talk to a LOT. I'm far from the most knowledgeable football fan, but I am confident I have a good feel for how a good chunk of the city feels.

Only thing I’ve seen that says it on is TWSN sports which is notorious for clickbait titles and in the articles it usually says something like this is a prediction not a report even though the title of the article sounds definitive.

Sorry, someone probably said this, but I'm not going back over 9 pages QBs get an outsized amount of credit for wins and losses. Bryce is the same way. He was far from good except for a handful of plays. That's not a recipe for success long term. On the flip side, with the running game and defense playing so well, he's not being asked to do too much. He doesn't look like "the guy." I'm all for bringing in real competition with Bryce this year.

I agree, what I have seen from him is nothing to get excited about. Who I do like is Simpson in Alabama. The guy has a cannon of an arm. Seems to be very bright and I think last I saw he was late 1st but we'll see as the season goes on how he drops or climbs in the QB standings.

Nothing new, Run the ball and stop the run has always been the key in the NFL. So many on here don't want a game manager. They want Dan Marino or Dan Fouts to be throwing the ball. (neither of them won a SB)

Why do you intentionally twist things that people say? Please show me in my post where I said that the media has NEVER hyped up Bryce Young. The person I was responding to said that the media has created a mythos around Bryce Young. And I asked if he can show me anything recently where the media has spoken about Bryce Young as if they are building a mythos around him. And no, I don't consider articles from before he was drafted to mean jack ish - people are wrong, including you, including myself, about prospects every year. Since the season has started, can you give me one media outlet that has deemed Bryce Young to be a franchise QB / long-term answer at the position? Don't bother responding with anything else.

But neither is 100 per game. Sunday's game was very windy. Both Young and Love felt it. I'm no NFL QB but I can throw a football quite well. Throwing in a strong wind is very difficult. The shorter the throws the better chance you have of maintaining the zip on the ball. The longer the ball is in the air the velocity decrease quite quickly. Young's throw that was intercepted was the exact route XL scored on in Miami, but it was easily picked off due to the strong wind. Love should have had two picks against him and both of them died in the wind. So, while throw bombs is cool you have to take the conditions into account.

But we aren't talking about how the media talked about him before he was drafted. We are talking about how the media talks about him right now.

If you’re honestly saying that you’ve never seen a media source hyping up Bryce young despite everything else we’ve seen, I want to live in the world you live in.

Theres nothing at all thats particularly good unless you like 29 minutes of shoutouts. Bleav with Johnothan Stewart is ok but the host is not good. I wonder what happened to Ellis. There was an edition where he was talking about the podcast gearing up for the season then nothing
