I thought that Stroud had more potential than Bryce because of his size, but neither have done anything yet as pros. And, technically, we gave up a 1st, two 2nds DJ for the privilege of swapping 1st round picks with the Bears.

Yeah, back in my original post I clearly said that if he doesn't produce this year, then we have to, HAVE TO, move on. They've made their decision to give him this year and he has all the weapons AND a defense to work with. If he can't do it, then it's next man up and he will have a team that's pretty much ready to roll from day one. Of course, if it is a new rookie QB, even with a great team out there, it can be a rough patch. There ain't an easy way to the top in the NFL.

Yes, but we moved up for Young and gave up a legit starting WR in Moore. The reason we drafted Mingo was to replace him. So Mingo is kinda on Tepper too. We also lost our fist rounder the next year. While the entire draft sucked, Bryce was the first domino to set things in motion.

the funny thing about that draft is if we just never do that trade, re-sign Darnold to a one year deal, draft Jalen Carter We likely end up with Caleb Williams or Drake Maye the next year and have Jalen carter plus all of that other draft capital

Tepper only picked Young. He wasn't picking Johnson et al.

Gave up is fine. We could have had Jalen Carter/Williams or Maye/+++++++ so to actually have Young on our team we gave up/used 2 1sts plus more.

Got that right. It was just up and down the ice all night. On the other hand, Montreal scored 2 and won off of 2 extremely lucky bounces.... and a grand total of 9 SOG.

Maybe “gave up” is the wrong term. But he cost us two firsts (and then some) because that is what we spent to get him. In the same way I would say we spent a 1st on Freeling. We didn’t trade anything to get him but we we didn’t get him for free. We still spent a pick.

So glad we can finally talk about these picks. I’m sure none of the “3 years” folks made any judgments about them year 1 or year 2.

Because it's the same thing. Saying we didn't give up anything because its a swap is wrong. If we gave up nothing then it would only be 1 first round pick. If it makes you feel better about the trade then say swap. Only thing that would make me feel good about the trade would be Stroud.
