I'm not an expert by any means, but if he's got all the physical tools, but seems to process slow and make questionable decisions, that sounds a little too close to Sam Darnold for my liking.

Payton and Wilson being a disaster in Denver would be a dream come true, but when it comes to sports, the more I dislike a team, the better they get. So wager on multiple Super Bowls. Also, anyone who actually paid their own hard earned cash for any merchandise that read "Let Russ Cook!" should be sterilized.

Do we have the personnel to Run a 3-4?
Khaki Lackey replied to bLACKpANTHER's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not yet, but if it makes anyone feel any better, we don't have the personnel to run a 4-3 very well either -
Robbie Anderson is now Chosen Anderson
Khaki Lackey replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's actually a pretty good name if you're undrafted and love irony. -
I think McAdoo gets a little too much blame on the huddle. Both of his HC’s wanted FoxBall, and he gave it to them. Given the poo show he had at QB, I think he did as good as could be expected. To be clear, do I think he’s great and should be retained? Absolutely not.

The fact that he called it like that with his career on the line is the reason I jumped off the Wilks train.

Joe Person on possible coordinator candidates
Khaki Lackey replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I thought it was a little odd that we were interviewing DC candidates before we even had a HC in place. Maybe Fangio is already on board? -
Pretty much. I'm just so relieved it's not Wilks of Payton, that I'm somewhat happy with it. My low Panthers expectations are paying off.

It really surprised me how good he's been at it. Not that he wasn't articulate, but he used to have Keuchly syndrome where he would say, "Y'know?." 50 times per sentence like he wasn't comfortable speaking publicly. He's been outstanding, though.

Yards per point was the stat PathersFan4Life used to use as a metric for why TeeBow was better than Cam. Is that you PFFL? lol

Why is mediocrity so attractive?
Khaki Lackey replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you want opportunities, you don't punt to Tom Brady rather than taking a shot at a play at midfield with a 70% success rate....with your career on the line. -
OP, the thread title triggered some folk's PTSD from 2 decades of Fox/Rivera. I get what you mean. Luckily for us, our OL has potential to establish a great running game that would be a great compliment to an OC that can scheme a receiver open every now and again.

Word from the insiders is that Nicole Tepper thinks that Steichen is “dreamier.”

Imagining Russ and Cap'n Vicodin crashing and burning in Denver is magically delicious.

Because he's overrated. He had a HOF QB for 14 years and only won one SB that was gifted to them because of a storm. Also, No head coach has ever won a SB with two different teams, so statistically it's really unlikely that he'd be great here, especially without a Drew Brees and the ability to run an illegal bounty program.

Could anything make you quit the team?
Khaki Lackey replied to Brooklyn 3.0's topic in Carolina Panthers
I will never stop being a fan, but I will say, hiring Wilks or any coach that has a conservative offensive philosophy will reduce me to casual fan status. I've watched that movie too many times. -
It's not like we have a bunch of prototypical 4-3 studs. If we were going to switch, now would be as good of a time as any.
-
Hell yeah, man. I think you're the first person to notice it. In over a decade lol

Tepper clearly wants to change the Panthers identity
Khaki Lackey replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's not dumb on Tepper's part. The math is simple. I've been saying it for years. Conservative, play not to lose, defensive minded coaches gets you .500. John Fox career win percentage = .520 Ron Rivera = .521 That's a two decade sample size right there. Defensive coaches that seem to not be dead set on conservative offenses (Bellichick/McDermott) are the special outliers that can win. -
Scott Fowler Observer column on coaching hire
Khaki Lackey replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fitting that Wilks went .500. He follows the tradition of Mister .500 Fox and Mister .500 Junior Rivera. If that's your standard, Wilks is your guy. -
