I found it odd we were never that interested. Didn’t even attend his 2nd Pro Day. I guess it just goes to show how confident we are in Darnold…

80 yard bomb! Man has a cannon for an arm…

Yep the 3rd year has been his sweet spot. The players seem to be buying in to the culture. Some progression this year would definitely go a long way. Fair point about college vs NFL.

What about pigskins after being launched from Sammy D’s throwing arm?

We aren’t winning the Super Bowl this year so let’s keep working on developing our team with our coach who is known for turning teams around in a short period of time.
-
I don’t think there really is one. It’s all the staff’s preference and not too relevant until game 3 when they are getting in sync fir the regular season. We still don’t even know who our starters are on the offensive line yet…. I think us fans are just trying to find something to discuss this early in preseason.

Ryan Day’s system is pretty different and relatively new. Clemson’s talent is way above the rest of the ACC’s and comes in higher than OSU more times than not. By your logic Watson should have busted and Lawrence will bust. These players are some of the top recruits coming out of high school, of course they are going to pick loaded teams. They are putting up dominant numbers with dominant talent like they are suppose to do.

Matt Rhule after SECOND Joint Practice with the Colts

Omg we finally get Panthers football tomorrow

Watch out for Gregory Little! -
Yeah and it’s not even like Rhule was playing the odds or playing it safe. Statistically speaking there is a higher chance of a first round QB succeeding than a reclamation project being successful…

I’m not saying he isn’t a good prospect. He had a short memory from bad mistakes in college. Seems to be a very smart man with all the tools and I wanted us to draft him. I’m just saying that preseason game one against backups isn’t really going to tell you much. A lot of teams run simple defensive/offensive schemes the whole game just to get players basic experience. It’s also why I’m not entirely worried about us not playing Darnold in game one.
-
One is probably going to be Howell or Rattler because of Liberty’s competition. IF Darnold looks like old Darnold, I would love to get Willis especially if we can do it without having to give away a ton of assets.

Ok overreaction on both sides. Preseason game one against backups should definitely be taken with a grain of salt. Started off rough, but looked good later. Time will tell for him and Darnold (and it should be much sooner for Darnold).

Matt Rhule after SECOND Joint Practice with the Colts
ForJimmy replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
These guys are throwing what 7 passes? How many did Darnold just throw in our joint practice against the Colts? It’s no different than leaving Darnold out and extra series or two if he needs it in game 3. Rhule said he is using this game to establish depth and our roster. I believe we have to make some cuts next week and he wants to make sure everyone on the fence gets a chance to play. Also I for one would like to have our line established before throwing Darnold out there against the Colts defense. If he plays week 1 preseason and gets hurt, fans would be screaming and crying. -
Love this guy! He, Chinn, and now possibly Horn are the future leaders of this defense. Brown is great too, but he seems more reserved.

Matt Rhule after SECOND Joint Practice with the Colts

I think most teams aren’t playing starters week one. It’s mainly to see who looks good in real action to see who makes them team/depth chart. I wouldn’t really look too much into it. -
Get it tight, get it right.

What the Indianapolis Colts media is saying about the joint practice
ForJimmy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Let’s get our center back and find out which lineup works best pretty quickly. Repetition is going to be key to build trust and cohesiveness throughout our offensive line. I’m not saying we will be top of the league, but should be average with a great OT in Moton, decent C in Paradis, and enough competition for both OGs to have a solid player there. From what I read Moton at LT and Christensen at RT looked the best for the tackles. Moton, Daley/Elf, Paradis, Miller, and Christensen seems to make some sense. Christensen should get better as the season goes and Erving can be our overpriced backup at any position really. If Christensen struggles, Scott can step in and be serviceable. -
Darnold needs to get ready to roll out behind Moton, whichever side he is at.

He fell to a nice place with his skill set. McDaniels can have him looking like a Drew Brees Lite with dinks and dunks all over the field.

Thursday joint practice news and tweets
ForJimmy replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep it’s year two because, I means it’s his second year here… Last draft was spent on revamping the defense to get younger and fit Snow’s scheme. But honestly this team got stripped of talent and had cap issues when Rhule took over. Playoffs in year two would be pretty insane considering all the circumstances. If we are competitive and improve throughout the season while sniffing .500 I’ll be happy. -
This thread is about Christensen! Why are you talking about quarterbacks????
-
I agree 100%. I think they feel Darnold can be a franchise QB and very well could feel the same about Fields and Jones. The only point I was making was acquiring Darnold went into the equation of not drafting a QB early. Had they not had Darnold there is a good chance we draft one.
-
Im not talking about the decisions as much as what gets out to us fans. If they messed up in the process they certainly don’t want us to know. The same goes for every organization out there. But yeah you are right. They should always do what’s best for the organization not just what makes them look good. They seem to be following that well too. Drafting a young QB would get fans more excited then trying to revive one, but I think they are doing what they think is best.
