We just can't put up consistent offensive performances at all. The one week we had 200 rushing yards Bryce Young finished with a 12.3 QBR and we were blown out. Anywho before someone barrels in here and starts slinging around accusations I am very happy we defeated the Falcons. As it stands now we split with them we were swept by the Saints (barf) and we are hoping to split with the Bucs. Considering the state of our division and it's ranking amongst the rest of the league that's....ugly at best. But it will have to do for now. All I want for Christmas is the Panthers offense to look competent to finish the season and not subject us to any more embarrassment. We are already in store for plenty of that once the offseason begins. That's all I got. Good talk

The Falcons are 10th in total defense per FoxSports. They are an opportunistic group. But they've given up 20 or more points eight times this season. I definitely would have felt better about the win if we had reached the end zone. Moving on to our final two games the Packers are 22nd in total defense and the Bucs are 26th. There should be absolutely no excuse not to score a touchdown or two against each team. I don't know how the rest of ya'll feel but I'm not going to sit around rejoicing over field goals. Against that level of competition we better score.

In the Panthers only two wins on the season the offense mustered a combined 24 points. Our only touchdown against the Chicago Bears earlier in the season was an extremely rare special teams return. Some of what we are seeing is akin to turd polishing. If acknowledging that hurts your feelings I am truly sorry bud.

Brown should and will be paid big. Burns may be loathed by many people here but he is still regarded as a legitimate talent around the league and he has value. His antics have been concerning but the team has also been a dumpster fire at times and the offense has often given the defense little to play for. Then there is the matter of Scott Fitterer's overall management of this situation which has left quite a lot to be desired to say the least. If you turn down a haul for a guy and then just turn around and make him disgruntled you are a total buffoon. I have to think Fitterer is on his way out. I shudder to consider the possibility of him bumbling his way through yet another draft and free agency.

I see we've got a fresh account that is keen to spam poo reactions. Never change lol

You are very bothered by that word. Our owner being a shithead doesn't mean we have to have one of the most impotent offenses in years. Unfortunately as much as you are triggered by the conversation that begins with our QB. He looked much better as a passer this past weekend and as such voila look at that Mingo and Chark aren't total trash like some people have been saying for weeks now. If we're talking about giving credit then Derrick Brown is one of the few bright spots and a big reason why we've even been in the last few games. If I'm making a list he's at the top pretty much every time. He's the best player on this team.

What you've presented does fit the definition. The last time we "won ugly" we proceeded to hit rock bottom. We'll see if this group can clean things up and finish with two more wins. I do not see that as being a tall order at all. Neither the Packers or the Bucs are particularly impressive. Ending the season on a high note would be a breath of fresh air. We'll see.

The Carolina Panthers haven't been in the end zone since November 19th. And that was a meaningless score in a blowout loss. Your definition of improvement varies from other people clearly.
-
There were definitely things to like. Then again there was still much of the same considering we never made it to the end zone and squandered many drives until the end. Folks talking up the Falcons defense are coping. They are a mediocre team at best in one of the worst divisions in the league. We need to carry this momentum into the matchup with the Packers. If we take another step back after this win the huddle will meltdown.

BREAKING: Panthers might hang on to Ejiro Evero
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Obviously you should let your new head coach decide on his own staff. But for any DC under consideration you would have to put Evero in the top 3 of any possible candidates. I'm significantly less concerned about keeping Evero through a new staff as I am someone like Tabor who seems to be one of Tepper's buds. -

Bobby Hill has to go

We have Ridder to thank for the win as much as anyone. Give me a few trips to the end zone and I'll smile plenty. Baker Mayfield threw for 4 touchdowns against our upcoming opponent. No reason we can't get one or two.

I'll be the first to acknowledge he was abysmal on the whole. But we need to bring him back and just let him make the first round picks. Hey Marty this is all we need you for good seeing ya bud bye now see ya next year.

Oh I agree a number of takes have reached broken record status here. Some are able to more eloquently convey their thoughts though. Obviously the subject of our QB is contentious but this is rinse and repeat for us. It's been this way for well over a decade. The name on the jersey might change but this is simply what we do. It reaches a point on either side where you choose to continue to engage or not and ultimately that choice is on each individual. If you do that's the price of admission and constantly complaining about it is no better than anything else. Ultimately it all serves to degrade the overall experience so claims of perceived superiority from any side are silly. Sometimes it's best to just laugh and move along. That's been the main approach to the local sports teams for me. I'll leave it at that.

The last time we had a passing touchdown was against the Cowboys on November 19th and that was just a sympathy score in a blowout loss. Yet there are folks here thumping their chests over 9 points sored in a win against the Falcons and Desmond Ridder lol.

Panthers releasing Justin Houston… what a great signing

95 is everything you could want in a defensive player and represents Keep Pounding very well. Pay that man his money.

Your efforts are appreciated. Unfortunately this will be an issue going forward no matter what anyone does due to the status of the franchise. That is beyond any of our control. As for the matter being discussed. It's important to note that the stance Icege is taking while there is some truth that there has been trolling here his proposed solution is basically another version of Poundaway and Iamhubby1 in wanting to censor and eradicate thoughts that he feels do not check the boxes he seeks. If one runs a community that way they won't have a community for very long. Not one dedicated to a sports franchise such as ours as historically inconsistent and now low as it has sunk in comparison to the rest of the league. The best thing to do is roll with the waves and try to keep the peace as best you can. But if anyone wants positive thoughts only I'd tell them to wake up to the real world. Social media is what it is and if negativity is not something someone wants to see then hey by all means ditch social media go back to a flip phone and just get off the internet. That works for some people. There's nothing wrong with that either.

The Eagles have noticably taken a step back without Steichen. Sure would have been nice to give that guy a real interview.

Should we seriously consider Evero for head coach?
frankw replied to PleaseCutStewart's topic in Carolina Panthers
Absolutely. I'm not sure how interested he is in working directly under Tepper with all he's seen so far. In the end money does talk though. -
Why is there this much discussion about the Falcons defense? In the end you give credit to our QB for navigating the final drive. That's what he was supposed to do. Unfortunately on the flip side of that you have to acknowledge we also played a team with a starting QB who led his team to only 7 points and had a game sealing interception in our territory to finish with a 15.5 QBR. On our end we're lucky if we visit the end zone once per game. And despite Desmond Ridder being a "two pack of ass" the sad reality is our QB still finished with a lower YPA than him despite 4 more attempts. Let's enjoy the week without a loss but be realistic going forward.
-
I would take Tomlin in an instant. But I don't see Tepper having any interest whatsoever in that possibility. Even if you remove the history he has with him Dave has shown he does not want a coach who will put their foot down and speak their mind.
-
There are people who simply do not believe in Bryce Young. That is unfortunate but expectations and reality have not met. We can't have productive threads discussing our #1 pick because of that but also because of the folks who want to act like they carried him in a womb for nine months and turn a win where we scored 9 points into a platform to announce he's finally arrived. You guys did the same thing after the Texans game and how did that work out? Earlier in the season all the talk was about how Andy Dalton played well against a lesser defense and how Bryce struggled against the better defenses and then that narrative went up in flames. He is expected to perform against teams like the Falcons. They are garbage. The NFC South as a whole is garbage. This used to be one of the toughest divisions in football. Next season will tell us all we need to know. For now we just need to see any semblance of improvement.

This win signifies where we are as a franchise
frankw replied to lightsout's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree with you completely. I'm thrilled we got a win at home against a division rival. But there was a time when consistently settling for field goals was enough to want coaches fired and players benched. We've lowered the bar significantly to accommodate for circumstances. It can't go any lower. Yet apparently some folks are determined to do so. That's a matter of personal standards I guess. Does anyone here remember when we used to complain about our lack of redzone consistency with Rivera and Newton? Even that is night and day compared to this. It's okay to have standards folks!
