Good vet back-up, swing tackle that is being brought in for his knowledge and mentoring. I'm sure Campen liked having his experience in the film room, in practices, etc. last year and will help with the younger players. Can never have enough depth, IMO. That being said, if a youngster or one of the UDFAs is flashing this summer, I hope that Erving doesn't clog that roster spot.

This was one FA CB that I wanted to kick the tires on. Will have to see final numbers, but $6M is too rich for my blood. Thought he could be a good #3 and step in to a #2 boundary role in a pinch. As long as he wasn't depended upon for CB1 or constant CB2 burn, could've been a solid vet addition.

2023 NFL Draft’s best scheme fits: Bryce Young
Soul Rebel replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am pumped for this team facelift. From coaching, to players, to schemes and systems....it truly is a new era of Panther football. What I'm most excited about is the look of our offense and defenses - Reich/Brown/Caldwell's fingerprint and Evero/Capers identity. I recall Reich's Colts' teams having a unique style of offense. I liked formations, motions, running game, etc. and remember that it doesn't look like a lot of team's in the league. Same with the Chargers too a little bit. The Broncos' defense, again, doesn't resemble a lot of the teams in the league. The multiple looks they give, the way they disguise and create mismatches advantageous to the D is brilliant. Certain players are needed to thrive in it, and I think these players have been brought in. Not necessarily "sexy" names on paper (Tuttle, Williams X 2, Penisini) but ones that fit what will work in this scheme. -
Albert Breer: MMQB (on Bryce and the QB evaluation)
Soul Rebel replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Though David Carr's career and image is kinda tarnished, I did hear an interesting, yet basic "football 101" thing recently from him. Every QB finds lanes to throw in and Young will find his. Whether it's a 6'4" QB like Carr or a 5'10" guy like Young....throws are made in windows and lanes, not over the top of the trenches. He was talking about the perception of Young's height and Carr said that QBs don't throw over OL/DL. So all of this concern with 6'5" and 6'6" linemen shouldn't be an issue. Something so simple. -
I feel like this was being said around this time last year with the '23 class....and most other years. Getting Levis/Bryce/Stroud was a hot topic.

If Fournette can be had for under $2M, I'd swap him out for Hubbard. Hubbard cost's us $350k in dead money and saves us $2M over the next two years. Fournette is a vet a bruiser at the goalline and pretty good hands out of the backfield as a receiver.

Love....love...love DJ in #52. Big shoes to fill, but it feels right for a player of his style and with the expectations we have for him.

Love seeing the bit about Tremble. Thought he had potential, but was far from a finished product. After seeing us bypass one of the deepest and most talented TE classes of late, made me think that this coaching staff sees something. At least push it out a year with Hurst here and see what they have with Tremble. We know Reich likes his TEs to be able to block and T2 is well balanced .

Roaring Riot Field. Sorry folks, Membership just went up a bit.

If Robinson can be a duplicate of Pitre....lookout NFC. I'll take Pitre's production anyday back there along with Bell. The architecture of this defense is so different than what I'm used to seeing us draft. It goes beyond just finding fits for a 34 base. The types of players, style, build, etc. is intriguing to me.

Kuntz is a Reich-type of TE. Has a Jelani Woods-esque vibe to him. Would also welcome Trice or Smith too.

I've watched teams like the Pats, Seahawks and Steelers take guys earlier than predicted for years. Questioned on draft day, but pan out once they get under the tutalage of a talented coaching staff. We've been denied this for years....it's a new era. I'll trust Evero and Capers here finding a compliment to Burns. -
Agreed....Smith is a great option too. Good call.

Hoping one of Rush, Tice or Kuntz is there at 145. Pumped about the Zavala selection.

Round 3 - The Carolina Panthers Select DJ Johnson - EDGE - Oregon
Soul Rebel replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wow...so many armchair scouts that watch a few YT vids and play around on their Playskool First Draft Simulator and have more insight than paid scouts/coaches. We needed an EDGE and people were begging for one at 39, so we get one at 80. This dude is a physical specimen and is a great compliment to Burns. Yes, he's 25 and doesn't have mind blowing stats, but can we at least trust the selection of this insanely well put together coaching staff that everyone was soooo enamored with. Maybe they know what they're doing? This isn't Madden. -
Porter, Jr. Mayer Avila Torrence White Ojulari In R2, we pick 8th as of now. I'm guessing both Hooker and Levis goes early tonight, so this is my short list of six players I hope are in Process Blue by the end of tonight. There's also guys like Brents, Musgrave, Washington, Mingo, Hyatt and Downs still there for the taking too. I hope Trader Fitts has his phone charged up.

Still deciding which network to watch tonight?
Soul Rebel replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd say NFLN, but I'm watching on the Apple TV app and these same 5 or so commercials might get old real quick. ABC would be option numero dos. -
I wouldn't mind seeing Shenault back there. Dude is thick and think of that Corderelle type on short yardage goalline situations would be great. I also like Roschon, Bigsby and Ibrahim for that physical runner and should all be available on day 3.
