OK, am I the only one in Charlotte that they can get for jury duty?

Every 2-3 years!

I get hit with the jury duty summons!   I thought it was off property records, yet I got it when I lived in an apartment and didn't own property.

I'm not sure my van will fit in the parking deck.

I wonder if my doctor will give me a note to get out of it?

It's via voter registration too I believe. I've only been called once back when I lived in Durham. Fiancee and I just moved into a condo. About the same time she pissed off someone at the DMV. A few days later we both got called. Same day. Two envelopes in the mail. Hmm.

I got called in Greensboro many years ago and had a great time.

The case was an estate settlement issue following the passing of an NC A&T Chancellor and his mistress wanted a piece of his estate. Guy's widow and kids were there, mistress was there, juicy testimony, crying women, screaming, pictures of trips to the Caribbean with the mistress, sex tapes... I was fighting back the laughter more than once.

Just recently got called but didn't have to serve. Sat in a room for 2 hours watching 'Love it or List it" until they brought us into the court room. Was cool for about 5 minutes then I just wanted to leave because the lawyers were very boring.

I've never been called and I really want to be.

No, you don't.

It's miserable and nobody wants to be there. You can feel it once you walk in the room.

I've been summoned twice since 2008. I got out of it in '08 because of school, but I had to go in this year on the Monday following the Panthers beat down of the Giants. I got lucky, I was part of the first group called and got to serve on the first trial of the day. It only lasted one day and it was basically a woman who got rear ended and was now trying to shake the guy down for a few extra thousand dollars. Most aren't that easy though. Dude I know from college had to serve this year on a 2 week trial that involved looking at pics of dead children as "evidence". Terrible. Get out of it if you can.

Like I said earlier - I got lucky. First group called in on an easy case that was over by 5:30 pm that same day. But it still sucked. I was hung over from drinking all day watching the Panthers/NYG game and woke up late so I didn't even get to shower before I left...and OF COURSE the only hot girl sat next to me the entire time. I was embarrassed b/c I felt like I stunk like alcohol the entire day and that made me not want to talk to her or anybody else really.

I get called every 2 years like clockwork. The last time I went in I was a foreman on a 2 day case.

Now that I have a job that pays me for jury duty I don't mind it as much, it's a diversion and can be somewhat interesting. The part I hate is seeing all the prospective jurors lie in order to get out of serving.

    • There are several posters that only post negative at all times.   8 wins is a big jump from 5 and we still have 2 games.  Jaguars have a much more talented roster than us and have underachieved for years.
    • All of this noise is just setting us up to lose Week 18 and proclaim life's not fair. If there's one thing I know in my 30+ years of watching the Hornets and Panthers, is that the bad guy always wins in the end. A team can be falling apart internally but we will still lose to them. A team's fanbase can be extra shitty and cocky and they will just win anyway. It always happens
    • Well even if we took diverging paths getting there...our overall assessment of Shough is the same (bolded) lol so I guess that's what matters.  What you call "playing at a level that looks like a veteran starter" is the same thing I'm referencing when I talk about his poise.  Although I still wonder how truly "bad" of a team the Saints are.  Their defense is middle-of-the-road, and their offense does have some good pieces (Olave, Juwan Johnson) outside of running back which is the position most everyone agrees is relatively plug-and-play.  I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the majority of NFL team's o-lines lol but I'm assuming Saints are not great there, although Shough's pressure % seems to have been quite low (and steadily improving) over the last four weeks (20 -> 16.7 -> 15.0 -> 13.0) so maybe they've been playing better as of late, or perhaps Shough himself deserves credit for that.   Some of the language I'm hearing about Shough, including talking about how he's way above league average in several categories, makes it sound like Shough is having a rookie season on par with like a CJ Stroud who established himself as basically a Top 5-10 QB his rookie season.  Maybe that's on me though, I don't mean to attribute anything to you that I'm sure you don't agree with.
