2014 Panthers vs. 2013 Panthers

Recommended Posts

the wide receiver/TE group is hard to get a good read on

smith, lafell, and olsen were known quantities with ginn as the wild card and the usual JAGs floating around the bottom of the depth chart going in to 2013.  going in to 2014 we know what cotchery, avant, and olsen are.  the one time dickson was given 16 starts at tight end he was reasonably productive although i'm not getting my hopes up.  benjamin is going to be expected to be a day one contributor and it's generally known what he's going to be asked to do.  if we're able to get anything out of underwood, king, or mcnutt then that's a bonus.

My biggest question is the OL. It was a big question last year too, but at least you knew you had two really good guys in Gross and Kalil. Now Gross is gone.

Has a team ever lost a perennial All Pro and seemingly not gave one single fug about trying to replace him? Do we really think a battle between a.former UFA who sucks at RT and a former UFA DT convert is really the way to replace a stallwart LT?

oh wee mayne...

Offense should put up about 20 on poor defenses, 14 on average defenses, and 10 on good defenses.

Defense should give up about 7 to poor offenses, 13 to average offenses, and 20 to good offenses.

I expect our defense to carry us once again to the playoffs, and if we are to do anything once we get there, we will need them to probably pitch some shut outs or give up less than a touch down.

Defense may be better than last year. i think Decoud will go back to pro bowl status with our front seven. Harper is at his best as a box saftey playing close to the line and not in coverage. Gettlemen says our 5th rounder is able to compete at Nickel immediatley and Godfrey will back him up. Melvin white will be even better with a year under his belt.

Recieving core is uprgraded. Only problem with offense is LT. Lets Pray Gettlemen sees something in Chandler that we dont at Lt.

You'd think we had the Saints or Broncos offense last year,  with as many hurt feelings there are about losng our dismal WR corp..

Have faith in the Oline.      Apparently Moses' work ethic was pure poo,  and not a prospect that Gman or the Panthers wanted...and he was the only tackle of any kind of decent quality at the 28th spot.

This team only goes as far as Cam can carry us. Yes, we know what the defense can do. But it's on Cam's shoulders now, especially with the Smitty release.

You have got to be kidding me...in what world is dumping nearly every resource a team has into the defensive line, and defense in general...leads to the QB needing to carry anything...

The following QB need to step up based on what their teams have done:

Stafford

P. Manning

Cutler

Tannehill

Kapernick

Romo

Luck

Brotles (if he plays)

Rodgers

Brees

Ryan

E. Manning

Whoever the Bucs QB is

The following QB's defenses needs to step up based on what their teams have done:

Newton

Wilson

Palmer

Bradford

Smith (Jets)

Smith (Chiefs)

Whoever the Raiders QB is

Hoyer (if he plays)

O-line is the only question. Guys will get released and we'll go from there.

I agree to a certain extent but the real question is have we improved more than the teams we are playing?.. and on the surface it does not appear we have. I actually think we have regressed to a certain degree. Having said that we as fans are only looking at next year while our FO is looking further in the future. Clearly this is a rebuilding year reflecting our cap situation.

As long as our front 7 is healthy we're going to be in every game. I think we've at worst broke even at WR (at least until Benjamin develops down the road) but the OL is a concern for sure. If we get that patched up we should be better overall than 2013.

still could have put more wr around cam.(and they might do though udfa)

of course the OT need to be upgraded. bell is decent fill in for now. the only worry you really have is LT.

the defense is same or better.
