BS aside from this thread - I think 99% of us in here, most being a part of WFNZ's target audience and demographic, can all agree that Marc James WILL NOT be missed.

This is going to be interesting to see which way they go in their hire. Somebody mentioned Jordan Gross, and I gotta admit that is a pretty good idea, but I was listening to him on WBT and his podcasts....eh I dunno if he has that assertive/strong enough personality to lead a 5hr sports talk show. Even when he filled in on WBT, he really struck me as a type of guy who is kinda ready to move on from football and to be frank I dunno if he's versatile enough to handle the different sports in this area that are important like Nascar and ACC hoops. Gross isn't a meathead like Frank Garcia is.

I think Haywood could be a good choice, but even with him (or gross) they are going to have to bring in a seasoned radio guy that can kinda lead the way with Gross and/or Haywood as sorta the sidekick bringing a sort of expertise and credibility to the show.

Ditto.

He's probably a douche in real life and he said on air that if he weren't in sports broadcasting he would be working for the paparazzi and TMZ. Are you kidding me? That is special type of scum bag that tries to catch an upskirt photo of a drunk Lindsay Lohan or start a tabloid fight between celebrities talking poo about each other like a bunch of school girls. That is the type of person we are dealing with here.

Loud, obnoxious, know it all. I don't wish any bad on him professionally or personally but I'm thrilled to see him go. He's somebody else's problem now. Word is he's heading to Atlanta. I'm sure he'll be telling the awful sports town that is the ATL how they are such great sports fan and he's got the smartest listeners in the south in no time.

WFNZ is a horrible station. Still, try listening to Bobby Rosinski on ESPN730. It's even worse.

I used to work with bobby .A very quiet kid but nice. He never said a word and it was very surprising he ended up on a sports talk show. This was 10 years ago so I guess he came out of his shell.

He said he set out to get Hurney fired...and believes he accomplished his goal.

I set out to get his ass fired...and I believe I accomplished my goal.

As far as I am concerned, we are equal Mark with a qunt James.  Drag your ass on out of here you talent-less POS.

Best day I have had since Kony got drafted.

Bobby R from all accounts is a nice dude. I have some friends that know him. I think he grew up in Matthews.

Still, how do you think he got that nice job on ESPN730? I'm sure his old man didn't help him in anyway.

I tried to make the switch a year or so ago to ESPN730 but I couldn't do it. The hosts are horrible and the local shows are horrible. It's flat. Boring. Uninspiring. At least WFNZ has a little bit of personality. ESPN does have a nice "brand" and that alone helps them get some good interviews.

I don't like Kilgo and I don't find anything he says interesting. I didn't mind his play by play at all but I turn off the radio when I hear his voice doing talk radio. I don't mind listening to foxsportsradio.com during the day or 730 when im out during rush hour. You could say 730 has less personality but they are also more professional. They try to inform you and don't spend entire shows with immature/sensational dialogue on the big social issues in sports. They don't bait callers with easy topics about Cam or Jerry Richardson. All WFNZ has to do is say "Is Cam" and the lines are loaded with people that hate him for sad reasons and people that will defend him to the death.

The saddest thing about Marc is he thinks he matters. He thinks he moves the needle, he thinks he influences the sports world. People hated Marty before he ever showed up. Losing got Marty fired, not Marc James. When Marc makes a prediction and it comes true you would think he cured cancer. He thinks former Miami players care that he went to Miami. Best thing that ever happened to Jon Beason was getting traded away from Marc's brown nose.

WFNZ has really lost a lot of credibility and it's going to be interesting to see what kind of hire they make. I could honestly see them bringing in no names. No names like Colin Hoggard/Nathan Conley or no names with no ties to the area and aren't recognizable nationally.

That'd be pure budgetary hiring, no credibility at all (which frankly, sounds like how they work)

Nathan Conley is terrible too. He's not a jerk he just sounds like a wimp that got hired because his daddy knows somebody. He starts talking before he's thought of something to say.

Pretty much.  No way I'd listen to that.

Get ready for this is gross with jordan gross and the QCB from 3-7

I wish (the Gross part, anyway; QCB I can live without).

Geez, what a self-important douche.

The person that got Marty Hurney fired was Marty Hurney.

Another Marc gripe...when he interviews people. He gives long questions, I mean LONG, that result in short answers. Dan Patrick is one of the bet interviewers in sports and he asks short questions and lets the guest tell the story. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how much I hate it when Marc says "I'd be remiss".

He was one of those ignorant pricks that found ways to turn an interview with an interesting person into a way to talk about himself.

Also remember how much he defended Jonathan Vilma.

I like what I've heard on 730 when I've listened.  Anything was better than James.

oh man, i hope not!  he's such a funny and original character.

I think the Job Description part of his contract consists of three words: "Say something stupid."

Lots of sounds of me eating chips and farting.

That'd still provide more football knowledge and insight than Marc James and his cast of clowns were capable of.

    • Here’s a summary of the JJ and Luke podcast transcript. Opening / Bryce Young Fifth-Year Option     •    JJ: Breaking news — Panthers picked up Bryce Young’s fifth-year option at $25.9M, guaranteed, coming in 2027. Combined with his 2025 salary of ~$6M, that’s $31M over two years — called it a “no-brainer.”     •    Luke: Enthusiastic about the move. Highlighted Bryce’s improving TD/INT ratios (11/10 → 15/9 → 23/11) and the value of entering year three with Dave Canales. Noted $25M is a bargain relative to the $60M top of market. Luke’s Personal Update — Charlotte Christian Football     •    Luke: Working with Charlotte Christian school football program, which hired a new head coach. Coaches include Greg Olsen, Luke, and Greg’s dad Chris Olsen (a New Jersey State coaching Hall of Famer).     •    JJ: Jokingly quipped that Charlotte Christian’s coaching staff is “the world’s greatest” — a Fox analyst, a Hall of Famer, and the best Panthers RB ever — all coaching middle school football.     •    Luke: Praised Chris Olsen’s deep football knowledge spanning decades and his ability to connect with kids. Round 1, Pick 19 — Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia     •    JJ: Panthers were on the clock and submitted their pick almost immediately — a sign of confidence and preparation. Freeling is 6’7”, 320 lbs, played in the SEC in a pro-style system.     •    Luke: Loved the pick. Emphasized you can never have too many quality offensive linemen. Noted Freeling’s size, athleticism, and arm length as key traits. Said the pick also reflects team’s philosophy of drafting great people, not just great players.     •    JJ: Noted reporter Darren Gantt compared Freeling favorably to Jordan Gross — bigger, heavier, and faster — as a potential franchise left tackle.     •    Luke: Pointed out that young players like Freeling still have physical development ahead of them, comparing the trajectory to Christian McCaffrey’s growth from age 20 onward. Round 2, Pick 49 — Lee Hunter, DT, Texas Tech     •    JJ: Panthers traded up from 51 to 49 (pick swap with Minnesota) to grab Hunter. Played audio from Panthers area scout Kaden McLuhan, who scouted Hunter.     •    Scout Kaden McLuhan (audio): Said Hunter’s size is immediately striking, and that everyone around him spoke glowingly about his character, energy, and love for the game.     •    Luke: Praised Hunter as a massive (6’3”, 320 lbs, ~34” arms) two-gap nose tackle who fits perfectly in the Evero defense. Compared his prospect profile to Akiem Hicks. Said having Derek Brown, Bobby Brown, Derrick Brown, Terson Wharton, and now Hunter creates varied body types that stress offensive linemen.     •    JJ: Noted Hunter ranked third among all prospects in run-stuff rate and sixth in interior pass-rush win rate — addressing a perception that he couldn’t rush the passer. Rounds 3–7 Highlights     •    Luke: Highlighted WR Brazle (3rd round, 6’4”, 437 speed, 1,000+ yards at Tennessee) as the vertical threat the offense needed. Also praised OL Sam Heck (5th round) as a technically sound player whose “short arms” caused him to fall but who has proven himself.     •    Luke: Mentioned CB Will Lee (6’1”, 33” arms) fits the Panthers’ DB prototype — big, long corners.     •    Luke: Praised S/LB hybrid Zaki Wheatley (5th round, 6’3”) as a big nickel similar to Trayvon Merek.     •    Luke: Excited about the linebacker competition between Devin Lloyd, Trevvin Wallace, and Claudin Cherless.     •    JJ: Noted Panthers had the #1 “steal/overreach” rating in the entire draft — drafting players lower than consensus big boards projected. Around the League     •    Luke: Admitted being “a little jealous” that the Miami Dolphins drafted LB Jacob Rodriguez (Luke’s favorite LB in the draft). Has personal connections to Miami’s coaching staff (Jeff Hafley, DC Shawn Dugen — a childhood teammate).     •    Luke: Also noted Miami’s selection of OT/G Kaden Proctor out of Alabama, who will likely move to guard. League Trends — Bigger Tight Ends / 12 & 13 Personnel     •    JJ: Observed the NFL saw its highest run rate in ~11 years (~52%) and a notable pivot toward big blocking tight ends in this draft.     •    Luke: Explained the cyclical nature of NFL offense/defense evolution — as defenses get smaller to match spread offenses, teams counter with bigger personnel (12/13 formations), which then forces defenses to get bigger at the nickel/“big nickel” spot. Called it an ongoing arms race.
